Nice and relatively safe

The biggest benefit to Jefferson Commons I feel is the fact that everything is included in your rent except your monthly parking and your monthly electric bill. They supply you with all your furniture, basically all the appliances, and the washer and dryer.

Also, Jefferson Commons is in a nice location. It's relatively safe and minutes away from the bus stop that will take you to OSU.

It is nice looking place on the outside, however, I feel they have a poor maintenance staff. A few months ago I called the maintenance staff to come look at my toilet because it was not running, and they never came. They never showed up! What maintenance staff does not show up? The place is a nice looking place if you disregard all the beer bottles, nasty stains on the carpet, garbage on the floor, and the random holes in the walls. However, the outside is usually kept very nice. It's the inside, especially the HALLWAYS, that can be a big problem. I feel that maybe this happens because they hired a young maintenance staff who prefer to trash the place and not keep it clean. It is the younger staff, not the older staff that is the problem. More importantly, they are usually very rude. They are not good workers. The staff in general is not consistent. Sometimes they can be pleasant and other times they can be rude. I've noticed that they dismiss problems when they do not want to deal with them.

The pool and hot tub on the other hand is a definite plus!! Usually their draining out the pool in the summer though due to glass in the pool but it is very nice! The tanning bed does not do much to get you tan, and the fitness facility is not the greatest.

Overall, Jefferson Commons is a nice place. I really think they should reconsider hiring a new maintenance staff and maybe caring more about their tenants and less about themselves. The location is great, the ammenities are great, and parking is usually good. So, if your an OSU student I would recommend this place just do not count on the maintenance staff to help you out and be prepared for the somewhat pricey apartments!

I lived at this apartment complex for two years. Its biggest strength is location. If you are a student at OSU, the location of this apartment complex is great. It's just a short walk to the west campus parking lots where you can get onto a campus bus. The complex itself is fairly new (opened in 2001), which is a welcome change from the rather old properties east of High St.
The biggest flaw is rental rates. It is pricey compared to some other properties around campus, but for the amenities (furnished, washer dryer in unit, full kitchen, community gym and pool, parking garage), it is worth it.
Covering the ratings:
Security - One of the other nice things about this complex is that there is an onsite police officer who patrols at night. However, this didn't stop my roommate's car from being stolen. I heard of a few other incidents of break-ins, but overall it is more secure than east of High St.
Parking - The parking garage is great. No need to scrape ice off the car during the winter, and no stepping into a 100 degree sauna during the summer.
Appearance - The grounds crew does a great job of keeping the lawns mowed and the overall environment clean. It's unfortunate that some of the students trash the place.
Office Staff - Very friendly and helpful.
Condition of Unit - Very good. No complaints here.
Noise Level - Well below average. The walls are paper thin. I could hear loud conversations from an adjacent unit, and I could hear normal conversions from an adjacent room, even with the doors closed.
Overall Rating - Good. This is a great place for students to live. For others, I would look elsewhere.
