Pretty decent place to live ( over a year ago )

Reviewed by: Anonymous
I lived here for almost three years after my wife and I were married as she finished up school.
We even brought our first child home to Olentangy Commons. When Richelle was there, it was awful. She was a terrible property manager. Thankfully she left and they brought in a new manager and new staff folks, and the difference was incredible.
My advice: get to know at least one of the leasing agents in the office. It was so nice to have one person I could go to when I had any issues. After we found out my wife was pregnant, we realized the need to move up to a 2-BR, but wanted to keep a low rental rate. I worked with the people in the office and was able to upgrade to a 2-BR for pennies on the dollar over what I was paying for a 1-BR, thanks to some incentives they offered me.
Now, for the apartments, I never lived in one of the renovated ones, but as far as the standard apartments go. They're, well, standard. Obviously appliances, countertops, fixtures are outdated, but they get the job done. It's not like living in a downtown high-rise condo, but it's a good place to live.
I always felt very, very safe in Olentangy Commons (and mind you, I had a child here), I never had an issue with parking, maintenance was quick to respond to my problems. At times, it could get a little noisy outside, not because of parties, but just people coming home at 2 in the morning with their voices raised (my son, though, learned to sleep through anything, which I'm thankful for). The grounds are well-maintained, etc. Again, Olentangy Commons is not flashy, but it's a solid apartment community, and I don't regret living here at all.

Olentangy Commons has had a bad image for a long time until Crawford took over. They care about the residents and have put a lot of time and effort into improving the property. The staff is very easey going and very helpful with everything that they do.

Not a bad place to call home. A little out dated in the kitchen and bathroom. However, there is lots of closet space in the one bedrooms. Had some trouble with maintenace when our A/C needed fixing in the 90 Degree weather- We had to wait a whole two weeks until we finally raised ****! Overall, good place

If you want to feel like a prisoner in your own home this is the place to go. Their management sucks. They complain about the noise after 11pm a few weeks ago. Then they changed the complaint to 24 hours. So if you want to play a boom box at 1 in the afternoon you run the risk of being kicked out. For 700 dollars a month for a one floor and two bedroom apartment this is bull crap. The management wants to commit false statements because when I confronted them about the situation they did not have a time and date of a violation. Really there are a few racist ****** that live there and if you are African American watch out because you will recieve no justice. Overall the place sucks and it would be wise to live elsewhere.

When I first moved into Olentangy Commons, I was stunned at how beautiful the apartments are for the relatively cheap price. The grounds are mature, with huge trees, and the apartments, although fairly old, have been well taken care of and are in good shape. My roommates and I have had several maintinance problems, but they were fixed incredibly fast and with courtesy. My only yet BIG complaint is my neighbors. They are loud, obnoxious, and frequently have noisy parties until all hours of the night on weekdays. And this isn't limited to my neighbors. These people are all over. This is because of Olentangy Common's proximity to many different universities. So, if you're looking for a nice place for a fair price and don't mind noise, come live here. But if you need your sleep and prefer quiet, I'd look somewhere else.
