Though I love my apartment and the space I am not happy with my overall change of residence. I knew that I was going to have to pay more in rent but I thought that I could save some money in utilities and some vanity expenses, like tanning. However.. The tanning bed is in the rental office with limited hours. So I am still tanning at a salon with more reasonable hours. And " You won't have to pay gas, just water.." Well that lovely Heartland does great things for the apartment owners (a quote from their site..
"-Reduction of your monthly operating costs by increasing revenues, lowering costs, and helping to keep the focus on your core business
-Compel your residents to conserve energy (doesn't work)
-Providing additional utilities at a lower cost
-Raise your property value substantially by recovering your utilities costs ")
...but its more than my yearly gas and water combined at my other apartment. The Heartland bill encompasses the entire apartment complex's electric (outside lighting, vacant apartments, rental office), water and yes gas and divides and bills to the tenants...
The walls are thin. The buildings are old. The windows are drafty. The heating is expensive even though electric. My bedroom never got above 50 with the door closed this winter.
