I moved in June '06 with my fiance and his roommate who had been living there since late January in a 2 bed 2 bath apartment. First of all, when it rained we got dirt and leaves in our bathtub (came up the drain!) and the water in our toilet would almost disappear. Then one time after a heavy storm, this happened again, plus our toilet overflowed soaking the bathroom floor, the carpet in the hallway, and in one of the bedrooms. We called the office and maintenance came right out, tried drying the carpet with a fan and using the shopvac, but when that didn't work they pulled the carpet up and took it away. We moved everything from our bedroom to the livingroom and slept there that night with the promise that the maintenance crew would be back the next morning to put our carpet back in. Nope. They put our carpet on the ground--on the wet dirt--outside our apartment to "dry" and didn't come back except to tell us it wasn't dry yet. After nearly a week of sleeping in the now crowded livingroom and having to use our roommate's bathroom, we wrote up a detailed letter and gave it to the office. Amazingly, that afternoon the maintenance men came back to say that they were taking the carpet to a shop to be cleaned and dried. A day or two later it was put back in. Unfortunately, maybe a month later after another rainstorm the toilet almost overflowed again but my fiance manually stopped it in time. Called the office, they came out and finally got the plumbing fixed correctly. One of the head maintenance men lives almost across from our apartment. He is, for lack of a better term, an asshole. He's always rude, he parks his truck to take up two spaces (sometimes he even pulls up far enough to park halfway on the grass!), on Thanksgiving he came out in his bathrobe to yell at his wife and kids then go back inside and slam his door, recently he put up a basketball goal and his kids keep letting the basketball hit parked cars. Then this morning my fiance went into the laundry room to find half of our clothes that were in the dryer on the floor and behind the dryer, with the other half still drying in the dryer, so someone took out our clothes and threw them then shut the dryer door and pressed the Start button to let the rest of them dry. My fiance cut his arm getting behind the dryer to retrieve some of his clothes. Having our socks and underwear thrown on the laundry room floor for no apparent reason does not please me at all, but all we can do is complain to management when their office opens. Then there is the matter of our neighbors above. Yes, they are obese guys, but the amount of noise they make is unbelievable. They sound like they are constantly falling onto the floor, which rattles our ceiling and our walls! Their music is always turned up loud with the bass all the way up, and they like to throw loud parties at all hours of the night, including weeknights. We've seen them throw beer cans into our back patio, and we've seen them throw pumpkins and fans from their balcony to the concrete ditch several yards ahead, causing a loud noise and splattering of pumpkin/fan parts. All in all, we are not pleased with this apartment complex, though Dawn in the office is really nice and so is one of the maintenance men. At the end of January when our lease expires we are moving to an apartment with a washer and dryer inside our apartment, so we will never have to deal with such problems as finding our wet clothes on the nasty floor again.
