Review for Montclair Parc Apartments

Montclair Parc raised my rent $60 per month (10%) after completing a one year lease. The notice came 30 days prior to the lease termination date. I had not planned on leaving, but this staggering rent increase changed my mind. Since I was not planning on leaving, I could not immediately give my 30 day notice, as I had no where to go. I asked for a 30 day grace period for the rent increase, so that I would have time to find another apartment. Local management said no, and a letter to the Vice President went unanswered. I ended up renting for an additional month at a $90 increase (16%), while I searched for another apartment.

When I rented the apartment, I was assured that rental increases typically ran $10 to 20$ per month on lease extensions. Montclair Parc is managed by Case & Associates Properties, and if you plan to stay beyond one year at one of their properties, beware of this bait and switch tactic.
