Are You Willing To Take The Bad With The Good?

GOOD & BAD----Grounds are well kept, site manager bends over backwards to help tenants, floor plans are really nice and the complex abuts to a park. However the general manager, Barbara Stone can be very uncooperative and tends to minimize the tenants needs. For example, when the weather warmed up around the end of March, the California owner had the heat turned off. This is Easter weekend 2007, with the temperatures in the 30s & 40s expected to go down to the upper 20's and Barbara Stone has refused to turn the heat on. The potential for a fire and burns to babies is great, as tenants will be using candles, space heaters and ovens to heat the apartments. When I placed my concern about the low temps in the apartments to the site manager Barbara Stone told her to relay to me that she would turn the heat on if I give her $1,500 or wear long johns!!! AND that won't guarantee it be turned on for another 6 days, when the temps are expected to rise again. There are also problems with the windows in this complex--many of them fall off their frames when opened and cannot be secured. The maintenance man suggests not openning them, but the breeze through these apartments can be very pleasant. Consistent hot water is not a sure thing, due to a very old cooler, chiller system--not tenant use, as the water storage tank holds 250 gal. of H2o. The pool is not properly maintained and often its walls are covered with algae. Built in the 1960's, these apartments need constant maintenance, which the owner and Ms. Stone are reluctant to address although they do not hesitate to invest in a deceptive exterior. Thankfully, tenants are carefully screened by the site manager and they are generally good people, and keep up the exteriors of their living spaces. This is the quietest place I have ever lived in. <P>
