Review for Village At Stratford Apartments

The Village at Stratford apartments is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. From the very beginning the experience has been a complete nightmare. I was beyond disgusted when I was showed the original unit I was to be leasing and found it was crawling with roaches. The leasing agent with me was equally disgusted and upon my refusal to accept this unit, offered me an upgraded apartment for the same price. I was then told the indoor pool would not be opened for 3 weeks due to a plumbing problem. The pool was still not open a month later, and upon my questioning of the situation the staff explained they did not have the funds available to purchase the parts needed for repair of the pool. The apartment complex opened the outdoor pool for Memorial Day but, it has become so crowded due to the overflow of people that would have used the indoor facility and the other outdoor pool. This over flux of people has made it dangerous to utilize the outdoor swimming pool, and an unpleasant experience.
The amenities in the club house are even worse. The Village at Stratford advertises pool tables, television, and free hot chocolate available in the club house. This is a lie. I went to the office to utilize these amenities only to find the pool table was covered in boxes and rendered unusable as there were no pool cues either. The television was missing and the hot chocolate was empty. There were also no cups for the hot chocolate if there had been some there.
Another serious issue is the notification of entering the apartments. I received a notice from maintenance stating they would be out to spray for bugs. There were instructions in the notice to empty my cupboards and cover the contents with trash bags. I followed the instructions explicitly, and the maintenance men never came to spray for pests. Two weeks later, maintenance knocked on my door requesting to enter to spray for bugs. I was not given the mandatory 24 hour notice that is written in the lease. This was not only inconvenient, but it does not follow the terms of the lease I signed.
This entire experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. I am paying for amenities that are simply not there. The Village of Stratford apartments is false advertising these amenities and I was flat out lied to about them. In addition to the lack of amenities promised, the security of the complex is a joke. There are constant loud parties that are a nuisance, and nothing is done about them. The neighborhood is horrible and I feel unsafe in the living environment the Village of Stratford is providing. My son cannot swim in the pool, nor outside due to bullying non chaperoned children, and cannot utilize the club house as an escape.
I have been an upstanding tenant of the apartment complex. My rent has never been late and I have taken care of the unit that was leased to me. However, I feel as though I was deceived with broken promises, am paying for amenities that do not exist, and have had my safety compromised by lack of security and unannounced maintenance visits. I feel as though the Village at Stratford has NOT kept up to their terms of the lease making it breached and null and void. I would like to move on with my life and put this horrible experience behind me
I will NOT be recommending these apartments to anyone, and absolutely do not have an issue with spreading my feelings about the establishment. I have submitted my 30 day notice and now have to pay $900 lease termination fee, as well as the half months rent that they gave me off when I moved in, Totaling $1232.50 just to move from this terrible mistake. I have spoke with them many times and they are holding me responsible for all termination fees. Even though they broke the lease by entering my apartment without notice as well as many other apartments.
