For a busy area, this building is a haven! ( over a year ago )

I moved into Amber Court at Christmas of 2005, and have spent two wonderful years here. The owner and manager are ever-present, and never stop making repairs and improvements. They've spent a fortune, and it shows. They've worked on the roof, the outside walls, the front courtyard, the inside hallways, and everywhere I can see. When I moved in, I had a new kitchen, a new bathroom, new lights, everything. This owner really cares! Pets are welcome, and the building atmosphere is great. People talk to one another, and I knew everyone on my floor, (and I'm a quiet person.) I asked for maintenance a few times, and the manager (Gavin) was always quick to respond. The maintenance guys are really great too. (The other reviewer may have had a beef, but I saw nothing wrong with management at all.) These are good people, and I would definitely rent here again.

I moved in about five months ago and so far I really love my apartment. My studio is fairly cheap and decently sized, with lots of original details. Just before I moved in my kitchen was redone with nice black and white tiles on the countertops. The walls were freshly painted a boring beige color, but my landlord actually gave me permission to re-paint them any color that I want! The landlord is pretty slow to respond to maintenance problems, but other than that everything is good. The building is super quiet: I hear people talking in the hall sometimes, but I've never heard anything from the apartments next to mine. Pets are welcome here; it's just a $100 deposit (refundable) for dogs, and no deposit for cats. Oh and don't leave your bike locked to the bike rack down in the laundry room; I made that mistake even though I'd seen the other review on here about bikes getting stolen. My bike got stripped of all its accessories (lights, fenders, etc.).

I loved my apartment in this complex-- it was on the basement level and I only had one neighbor. Unfortunately, that neighbor liked to smoke out of their bathroom window and into mine. There is NEVER any parking in this neighborhood- you are in between two very crowded shopping streets. I walked an hour to work just to avoid circling the block for an hour later that night. Extremely frustrating. My studio was spacious and beautiful, but it was always cold. You can't control your own heat. I would recommend this place as long as you can withstand freezing temperatures and own a bike that you keep in your place.
