I moved in to Santiam over the summer because I really liked the neighborhood and the property is beautiful. I quickly learned though that the management was very fake and unreliable. They never seemed to be around when I needed them and when I finally could get a hold of them it would take a severe amount of time for my problem to be fixed. My neighbors were constantly loud, the garbage cans were always over flowing, and I had huge spiders all over my back porch! I went to them several times and none of these problems were ever fixed.
Then my luck changed when Kendra and Alicia, the management team, suddenly no longer worked here and a gentleman named Eric came in and completely changed my entire view on SMI (the management company). He worked very hard long days in the office by himself to clean up the mess that was left to him. Its been several months now since Eric took over and I still think he is doing a great job. He finally got an assistant manager and she is really nice as well. Since they took over I hardly ever hear my neighbors, bigger garbage cans were put on the property and just a few days ago I saw pest control on my back patio spraying for spiders! They aren't just talk or full of empty promises like the previous management was.
I would highly recommend this property!

I just moved in about three weeks ago. The staff has been short handed due to a change in personnel. Eric Padilla has been the one to work with me for my occupancy. I am glad that I hear from others that it is difficult to get approved residency at santiam villiage. I don't want to live in a place that lets anyone move in. I want quiet respectful people with well behaved children. The staff is a bit slow to get to maintenance issues, but I hope all this will change now that he has an assistant to help him

I have been a renter for over 10 years now and have truly enjoyed Santiam Village Apartments.
They are new in Salem and offer great things for the residents here. I got to move into an apartment that no one has lived in before and have enjoyed the wooded view from my patio. I LOVE the fact that it is quiet and not in the middle of town.
I also like the fact that the staffing here has been here from the start and don’t just let everyone in here! This makes me feel safe. I have always had good experiences with the staff. The first assistant just let everyone do whatever they wanted and things were getting out of hand if you ask me. In response to the manager Kendra, she doesn’t make the rules just has to enforce them is all. This go’s for all apartments I have lived in. My god, if we didn’t have rule could you imagine the kayos there would be!
I for one have been here going on my ninth month and plan on renewing with Santiam when my lease comes up. It is great to have a place take some pride and authority.
The grounds are beautiful, the apartments are stylish, the renters are super friendly and the staff is on top of things. Remember that no one is perfect.
I would recomend this place to anyone!

I was looking forward to living at Santiam Village because, I will admit, the unit is nice and relatively affordable. However, after getting to know Kendra Rawlings - the apartment manager - both my roommate and I quickly regretted our decision to live there. She is difficult to work with, gives "speeding tickets" of $25 anytime you or your guest drive in excess of 5 m.p.h., constantly leaves "notes" on the door, and took $300 of our $500 security deposit money. I'm upset because we were good tenants, never paid late, never had more than 1 guest each, were not loud, and were relatively clean. In fact, we were rarely at our apartment as we were both students and, still, she managed to find defects that resulted in her taking $300.

As long as Kendra is the apartment manager, I would rather live in a sub-par apartment complex than live in a luxury apartment complex with Kendra as the manager.
