Don't Move Here!

There are two main types of people who live here; Asians or people who are in the last 5 years of their life. I mention this because if you are young and looking to meet people you aren't going to do that here. The Asians do not speak English and the old people seem to think this place is a retirement home and hate anyone under the age of 60.

Alright, let me begin with the actual apartment. I have a two bedroom/two bath and its a decent size. Bathrooms are old but maintained. The in apartment washer and dryer are tiny and function poorly. I live on the first floor and am VERY lucky no one lives above me, because when they show the upstairs apartment it is loud beyond belief. Also, I can always hear children in other apartments practicing their violin. It drives me crazy.

Parking. Its ok, but some buildings are more occupied than others and parking can get tight in areas. Also, the old people seem to try to get the prime spots and then don't move their car for a week.

Gym. Its horrible, don't bother.

Claims to be pet friendly. The Radwyn only started allowing dogs recently. When I moved in I already had my 20 pound dog (she does not bark) and filled out all the paper work and paid the $200 to move her in. Despite the fact that the Radwyn website claims there are 40 acres here for your dog to roam good luck finding places to walk your dog where the old people don't come shuffling out of their apartments and yell at you to walk them elsewhere. Just the other day an old lady came out and yelled at me about walking my dog near her apartment (my dog was not doing any "business" just running around, leashed, and of course I always clean up after her)so I told her to call the cops. God I hate it here.

The leasing office. Oh my goodness, where to begin' I have no idea where they found the idiots who work there. My husband, a lawyer, had issues with the lease and wanted to note a few things on it, and when he wrote on it the leasing agent told us no changes (no matter how minor, he wanted to fix something that was not worded correctly) could be made and went to print out a new page. The office also seems to arbitrarily enforce rules and regulations. Like I mentioned earlier I have a dog. When the mail comes through the mail slot she will eat it if I'm not home. So I placed a small box outside my door for my mail that was put out in the morning and taken in in the afternoon. I got a nasty letter from the office saying the box must be removed. I called the office and was told that it was a fire hazard and no personal items were allowed in the common areas. I said fine and removed it and went to every other apartment in my building and took photos of the CRAP people had outside their doors and in the common areas and NOTHING was done. Apparently they only cared about the small box in front of my door b/c they were showing the apartment above me. UGH. Lets see, what else' If you are late on two months rent they will rescind your first and last months free promotion if you got one. Fine, but when they set up their online payment center there were huge problems and I received a letter from them saying I had been late with my rent one month. I got all my documents, emails, bank confirmations etc and had to go clear it with the office. They apologized but it was still a pain. The last problem I have with the office is actually with the lease itself. You have to give 90 days notice (from the time your current lease is up) in writing to the office that you will be moving out at the end of your lease or you will be on the hook for another year. I for one would lose my ---- if I ended up having to pay these idiots another year rent while I didn't live here so of course I will get my letter in well in advance. Just seems like a shady business practice to me.

Pool. Its fine. Big, clean enough. Again not going to meet anyone there b/c no one speaks English.

Grounds. They are maintained well enough...but as others have mentioned they will start weed whacking outside your bedroom window by 8am so don't expect to get to sleep in.

Maintenance staff. Haven't had too much experience with them. However my one experience wasn't great. At the time I was about 12 weeks pregnant and VERY sick (with pregnancy issues and an autoimmune disease). There was a knock on my door shortly after 8am. Apparently they wanted to change the batteries in the smoke detectors. I had been given no heads up regarding this. I was ****** (don't mess with a pregnant woman). I had to get my pets put away, put on some clothes and let the guy in. He smelled like an ashtry. No, a million ashtrays, not something a pregnant woman with morning sickness really wants to deal with at 8am. At least he was quick about changing out the batteries.

So. Why do I still live here' Well I moved down from Manhattan quickly for my husband's new job and didn't have time to buy a house so we moved here in May 2010. We have since purchased a home in Devon PA and move Nov. 29 2010. We will still be responsible for the last 5 months of rent. Which is fine as I did sign a lease but the office had ZERO interest in discussing possibly breaking my lease or working out some other arrangement (they make it near impossible to sublet as well).

So, in conclusion, don't move here!
