Situated in the tranquil neighborhood of East Mount Airy, Ardleigh Gardens is a quiet place to reside outside of the city. The Stenton SEPTA station is just up the street and has routes to Center City - the building is also walking distance to several bus stops in the area. A handful of great schools line the neighborhood including Germantown High School, Freedman School of Humanities, and Khepera Charter School. Recreational opportunities are also abundant with Pleasant Playground, Mt. Airy Playground, and Waterview Recreation Center all surrounding the building. One of the many benefits of residing in downtown is the convenience of having both fine dining and quick eats right outside the apartment. Classy dining options in the neighborhood include Butcher and Singer, a seafood restaurant with a delectable Baked Alaska; Le Bec Fin, a French cuisine eatery that features a dessert cart and top-notch service; and Nineteen (XIX), which offers a luxurious Sunday brunch. Cosi, Fergie's Pub, and Little Pete's are just a few of the smaller eateries that where those on-the-go can grab a quick bite. The neighborhood is rich with cultural and historical establishments including The Franklin Institute, a science museum that boasts a planetarium and a Titanic exhibit; Mutter Museum that showcases medical oddities; and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, one of the city's greatest showpieces. Fine dining selections populate the area with options like Bistro St. Tropez, which offers excellent views; Parc, which serves up French comfort food; and The Prime Rib - great for late-night dinners and live music. Duval Manor Apartments is just a short 3-minute walk from the Upsal SEPTA station, which provides transportation to Center City. The building resides in a neighborhood surrounded by local favorites including Toto's Pizzeria, The Rib Crib, The Nile Cafe, and Park Manor Deli. Grocery shopping is also convenient with numerous options in the area like Weavers Way Co-Op, Joa Mart, and The Fresh Grocer all nearby. Several reviewers were unimpressed by the management of the apartments. Some points of dissatisfaction included poor ventilation in the building, pricey rent, and some miscommunication with the office staff. Grocers in the area include Acme, Bell's Market that offers Eastern European selections, and the Philly-favorite Wawa Food Market. Grabbing a bite to eat is just a short walk with Gallo's Seafood, Merc Brothers Pizzeria, and Boston Pizza all less than half a mile away. Pennypack Park provides excellent biking and hiking trails, and holds some of the best free concerts in town; another great activity close by is rollerskating at the Rolling Thunder Skating Center just down Roosevelt Boulevard. Princeton Gardens is adjacent to the wonderful views of Cresheim Valley Park, and just down the street from Mt. Airy Playground. There are many conveniences in the neighborhood, especially several grocers that are within walking distance: Acme, Weavers Way Co-Op, Food For All Market are just some of the many options. Great schools in the community include Big Back Yard Nursery School, Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, and Springside School. The building is also located alongside several eateries including Avenida, Earth Bread + Brewery, and Trolley Car Diner & Deli - all neighborhood favorites.
