The first and most obvious problem is parking. There never is any. That's OK if you can park next to the school, but if you park in the outlaying neighborhoods, look for the radio I had stolen out of my car...
Security is actually decent beyond that. The doormen are usually at their station, although piggybackers are common. The police showed up one day to resolve a domestic from a piggybacker who had no authorization to be there. Sadly, there's still a lot of "Mickey Mouses" and "Donald Ducks" in the sign in book as the guards don't actually ask for ID.
The appearance is reasonable, although the common grills usually are littered in summertime. The gardens and courtyards are nice. They offer private areas to drink and smoke up for the college students.
The landlords are quite possibly the worst I've dealt with. They LOST OUR LEASE. When we went to forward the lease to our new landlords, they actually asked us if we still lived there. To top it off, we had three different move out dates. They sent us the move out notice a month early. Be sure to photocopy the lease and frame it. Do not waive the landlord-tenant act of 1997, there's a clause asking you to do it. It's there for your protection.
Maintenance was a joke. Our stove broke (old age) and stayed broken for two months. They claimed that they just had a bad handyman. Great, that doesn't make me any happier having to eat microwavable soup cups for two months.
The condition of the unit was one of the things that was done reasonably well. The walls were mostly the same shade, although they forgot to replace our carpets. The existing carpets weren't too bad though, so I didn't complain. One of the cable drops in the apartment didn't work, and the datajack had to be rewired. The 'High Speed Internet' is worth about 20kb/s most nights, I wouldn't get suckered by that. We had it cancelled a few times on us for 'excessive use'. Guys, I'm in college, my course materials are online, I'm going to be using the internet. A lot.
Noise Level: The walls are pretty thin. If your neighbors like to party, you're not going to sleep too well. The guards arn't much use either, the one time I registered a complaint, the guard came up, couldn't get anyone to answer the door, and said, "What am I supposed to do?" The cops showed up an hour and a half later, after the party died down anyway. They have better things to do in philadelphia.
Overall rating: Don't bother.
