Of course there are always problems with apartments, especially if you live in a 100 + yr old Victorian building. The issue is what is done about it. First of all, the owner of the company showed us the apartment on a Sunday morning because it was our only availability that week. Forbes shows up sometimes within minutes of a call to report a problem. The longest we ever waited for maintenance was a day. The maintenance staff is helpful, knowledgeable, and one of them has a charming British accent. They always call if they need to get into your unit, even if it is an emergency (e.g. pipe leaking into apartment below us, needed to check our plumbing). Heat was included in our rent and I spent all winter wearing a tank top and flip flops. The one time the heat had been turned down (to a freezing 65 or so), we called several days later and were chastised for waiting days to call. The lady that answers the phone, Paula, knows me by name. I drop off my rent each month AT THE OFFICE, which no one has ever had a problem with. The only problem we had was that my car was stolen while living there. Since the apartment is in the city and not far from some less-desirable neighborhoods, I don't consider this to be their problem, even though they were quite apologetic and sympathetic about it. Crime happens everywhere. Our apartment was gorgeous and well maintained. I loved everyone in the company and tell people all the time to rent from Forbes.
