Review Title:   Dishonest, Horrible Company To Rent From
Reviewer:   Anonymous
Review Date:   10/31/2006

When we moved to Pittsburgh, we had a short period of time to look for an apartment. Then we found a Forbes apartment that was under renovation. The promises were great, the model apartment looked good, and the price was irresistible.... Then we moved in. First of all, our apartment wasn't completely finished...broken window in the kitchen, no breaker box, just cardboard, the apartment (although new) was filthy. There was dirt on the floors and in the cupboards, handprints and smears on the walls and doors. The bathtub was old and rusted out. And the workmanship was horrible. And we moved in two weeks after the supposed completion date. On top of that, they had not even begun construction on the apartment next door. For the next month, it was like living in a construction zone with power tools, shouting and swearing by workers, debris in the hallways, pounding and banging and everything else you can imagine. On top of that, the workers smoked cigarettes, cigars, and weed the entire time they were working. I was home all day with morning sickness, so I was witness to it all. When our neighbors finally came to move in, they had to pile their stuff in the middle of their floor because workers were still in there. Also, with the "touch-up" stuff they had to do in our apartment, workers acted like it was their construction space instead of our home. They walked in before I could get to the door to answer it, left the door open, and several workers would come in at a time (needlessly). After the majority of the construction was done and the crews finally left, Forbes still had not fixed our rusted out bathtub (remember...this is a brand new renovated apartment). We called and every time they took down our phone number and said they would call us back. After a month of this, we finally called and talked to the head boss. When we mentioned we didn't feel it was fair that we were paying full rent when they weren't maintaining the apartment, he threatened to take us to court. Finally, we bought appliance epoxy and fixed the bathtub ourselves. Then, all the lights in the hallway went out except the one at the end which is not by anyone's door. After more than a week and repeated phone calls, they finally came and fixed them today. We couldn't see to get the key in our door and had to use the emergency flood light on the Exit sign to light up our lock. All in all, DO NOT RENT FROM FORBES. We can't wait to move out, but we still have 7 months left on our lease... :(
