I just spoke with a friend from college and she was asking about my place because she saw it on Craig's list. I couldn't say enough awful things about living here and JLB or Elrod or whatever they're deciding to call themselves now. Jason Cohen and Elrod are the worst "landlords" I've ever experienced. Our water got shut off because they never paid the bill or billed us for it. After it got turned back on we were billed for 5 months of water. When the weather started getting cold, I turned on the heat and the furnace was so bad the house almost caught on fire. Luckily I was still awake, because the smoke detectors are probably older than I am. It wasn't long after that the hot water tank went too. We went 2 weeks without heat or hot water in November. We called the health department and they red tagged both appliances. We then found on that there was toxic mold in the laundry room as well. The cold weather brought frozen pipes because nothing is insulated in the house. After calling every day, and the maintenance man not showing up for several days in a row, no action was taken until I called and threatened to call the Health Department again. (Of course this was all left on voicemail) The kitchen is in a slightly remodeled basement which is freezing all the time. The thermostat is also located down there, so the heat is always running, leaving us with $400 gas bills for a small two bedroom house. This place is awful. It might look alright, but we put a decent amount of work into it to make it comfortable for us. I honestly can't say enough bad things about Jason Cohen and Elrod Investments. I have one more month on my lease and I'm moving out early. I'd rather pay rent in two places than spend another month living in this place.
