Somebody just posted review about 5855 Darlington Rd apartment building. Completely agree with everything!!!! I lived in this building for 5 months and after that decided to move out. I decided rather forget about my deposit, but I could not put up with those people any longer. First of all I look at the apt in march, and I sign credit application the same day and give them security deposit. Next day Meridith called and said that my application did not get thru and I have to pay extra deposit which is 2 months' rent. I did not know why my application wasnt' approve i never had such problem. So I told her I dont' want' to pay this kind of money so I will ask my mother to sign lease with me. Couple minutes later Meridith called and said that was mistake and my application is ok and I dont' have to pay extra money and my mother doesn't have to sign. My lease supposed to start June 1, so May 30 I called and ask her when can I get my keys. She said that previos tenant moving out June 1 and I can just get keys from her. I was suprised that' they even did not clean apt after previos tenant, but on the day of my tour Meridith told me everything will be cleaned and painted and fixed. When I moved in I have to spend 2 days just to clean apt. The first day I find out that there is a mold in the shower, toilet is leaking, oven not working and the big window in the kitchen doesn't have a lock so anybody can get in apt using the fire exit steps. I called JLB told them everything, fill out and sent them ispection checklist, but nothing was done. Next month I received letter from them saying I have to pay $50 late fee, but my rent as already paid and check was cashed. I called them and they said "dong' worry about it, it is probably crossed in the mail, we have your rent". But couple days later I got notice from magistrate to go to hearing because my rent is not paid. I called them again, they told me that they filed chargers because my rent was late and they received my check AFTER they filed chargers. MY CHECK FOR RENT WAS CASHED 2 DAYS BEFORE RENT DUE DATE!! How they can file chargers when rent is not even late. The told me "don't worry just go to magistrate explain that you paid your rent and that's it, but you will have to pay court fees which is $117." Of course I won in magistrate when I show them my cleared check and I did not have to pay those fees. BUT THE SAME STORY WAS HAPPENING EVERY MONTH, NO METTER WHEN YOU PAY YOUR RENT. That was the most redicoulis thing in my life. Just this was enough to move out. I am not even talking about our water that was shut off because JLB did not paid their bill, dumster in front of building that was ALWAYS full, i am not talking about their lies in advertisement when they say "UTILITIES ARE INLCUDED" but then your electric is shut off and so on. One day I came back from work and find out that somebody was in my apt. There was 2 cups with cofee (I DONT" DRINK COFEE) on the table, there was sigarets in the toilet ( I DON"T SMOKE), but the worst thing was that my little chihuahua dog was locked in the closet and she was so scare, so couple weeks after that she could not be around people she doesn't know. After that' I just moved out and they even did not take me to the court for breaking the lease because they knew already that I have enough proof to win this case. So, Please don't rent from those people. They don't care about you, your pets or your apartments. The only thing they care about is money.
