I rented an apartment on the south side about two years ago from Sachs. The apartment itself was decent and even had a few especially good points (interesting floor plan, spiral staircase, little porch outside & beautiful ivy along the outdoor stairs, not to mention very reasonable rent) but the management was continually unnecessarily rude. It was impossible to get them to do anything easily or even be pleasant on the phone, so I just stopped calling them if I had any way to fix the problem myself. They had also lied to me about the parking situation, telling me that a certain spot was mine that actually belonged to the office downstairs, and as a result I was aggressively parked in by the angry staff and even recieved threatening notes on a few occasions. Once, I was about a week late with rent, and Mr. Sachs himself called my cell phone to tell me in a very patronizing and ominous tone that I had to pay the rent or they would start eviction (!!) procedures. They approach every situation as if they expect every pittsburgh renter to just move in, completely trash the place, and skip town without paying rent, and treat you as if they know you're going to do something like this. When I told them I was moving out, they came through the apartment a few times totally unnanounced, and once even showed up while I was still asleep in bed and frightened me out of my wits. I loved the apartment itself, but the management was WAY too much of a hassle to deal with.
