I am counting down the days until my lease is up here (430 Atwood) altho by all rights I should be able to vacate as the apartment is damn near unlivable. It is currently 11 degrees outside with three inches of snow on the ground and we have not had heat since October, which only lasted about a week. We had to call and insist that heat be put on in October as well, even getting the Housing Authority involved, who claimed to have taken some sort of legal action against Trends, or at least threatened.
From irritating to utter ridiculous: We were told that the carpets would be cleaned when we moved in and yet they never were. Despite repeated cleanings with a wet vac, there is still a solid layer of filth on my socks when I walk from my bedroom to the kitchen. The lock on our apartment door was not working properly and for the first two weeks of our stay here, we had called to have it fixed. Not feeling safe, I had to have my dad come out and fix the problem. As the wiring in this building is less than shoddy, the ceiling light in my bedroom had short circuited and could not be turned on. For two and a half weeks I called Trends' answering service before maintenance was sent out. Our toilet was not flushing or refilling properly for about a month, through out which I called near daily and was assured that maintenance would stop by, although it took them 4 weeks to do so. The front door to the apartment building, which is supposed to only be accessible to tenants with keys, was propped open with a piece of concrete for about 3 weeks, despite repeated calls from myself and others in the building. Naturally, any thief or bum would only have to walk by to know the place was open to the public and sure enough, my bike was stolen.
The people at the answering service (412-444-6677) are completely unsympathetic and don't seem to care in the slightest that their tenants are living in conditions that rival a hobo's. They refuse to give out a maintenance number or the owner's number and will give you the same run around, regardless of the urgency of your problem.
DO NOT NOT NOT RENT FROM TRENDS CAPTIAL!
