Great place to live ( over a year ago )

Reviewed by: Anonymous
I have lived here for the past 5 years and its been a pleasure. Granted there has been some changes in the staff in the past but that seems to have changed. Anytime I have any problems with my apartment, which isn't often, they are quick to respond. You can't beat the nice, quiet location and this is the only place i have found to gladly take my dog. I highly recommend it.

I have to agree with everything 12/24. The apartments are a nice size, I lucked out with having an updated apt(kitchen & bathroom)and my location, i have my own entrance. The parking is horrible, mostly due to limited spacing. Your only assigned one parking space and is very hard to find parking when you have two vehicles. The atmosphere of the complex is nice & quiet, since it is located back in the woods and right next to a creek. It is hard to get things fixed and replaced, you have to keep at it with the office to get something replaced. the complex is very frugal with the money. The maintenance man Jerry is certainly overworked and makes it hard to get immediate attention. But he does try his best to fix what he can. I also agree with the front office being unhelpful. I do feel these apartments are overpriced for a one bedroom, and was also given the same excuse that it includes heat and hot water. i have looked at other apts in the area, and priced alittle bit more than the one bedroom at stonewood, i could get twobedroom with the same amenities. The only reason we stay is because they are dog friendly, and that is not something you find really find anywhere else. It seems the bugs are a problem with everyone, mostly due to dampness. during spring-fall we are infested with house catipillars that are about 2-3 inches long. they dont hurt anything other that they are gross. i would recommend looking at other places first before settling here, you may get a better bang for your buck somewhere else.

I have lived in my apartment for a couple of years now. It is a nice size, in a nice area and the neighbors are wonderful. I like the woody area and also the stream is nice and relaxing also if you live near it. The things that I do like about it is it is in a nice area place back where it is more private and there is not much noise. The size of the apartments are nice and the closet space is great also. The things I do not like is the parking is horrible. One space per person and someone is always either parking in the visitors spot or your spot. God forbid if you have 2 vehicles or a visitor. They have to park up the street and walk to the apartment sometimes. The maintence, well, Jerry (the maintnence man) is very nice but VERY overworked. He needs help and they refuse to get someont to help him. So to get something done takes forever and alot of times it doesn't get done. Talking to Ann (the manager) is like talking to the wall to get something done that costs $. Most of the time if you contact her she never calls back. They also need to hire someone that is knowledgeable about things that need to be fixed. Jerry is a maintance man not a roofer or a plumber but they have him fixing these things so when and if you need help with them you get what you get if you know what I mean. Again, when it comes to maintence they refuse to put $ out to get things fixed correctly but they want you to pay the pricey rent to live here. And if you complain to Ann her response is that heat and hot water are included so I guess we get a deal? It is easier to fix things yourself if you can and not to bother Jerry since he has so much on his plate. I like these apartments I just wish things were run different because, again, for the price you should get what you pay for. But I guess we are asking to much. If it wasn't for the neighbors and the area and the size of the apartment I would have lived somewhere else. Buggy aparments also. I have never seen some of the type of bugs that where in the apartments before and also why are the so BIG? But I guess that is what you get for living in a woodsy area and by water. So if you want an apartment that is of nice size, good closet space, has awsome neighbors and is in a private area then this is for you. If you want an apartment that is overpriced for the look, has horrible parking and takes FOREVER to get things fixed (if you get them fixed at all) then this is the one for you.

This place boasts signs all over stating they are winning best community excellence awards each year, but I'm not sure why. It is a nice place to live overall, but if you walk around and really look at everything, you will see where it is run down, dated and in need of repair. You can also see wires and other things that can not be to code. What I like about this place is the community, the location, the size of the units, the general helpfulness of the property manager and having my own entrance. What I don't like is how dated the units are, the neglect to common areas, the way they do not want to spend money to really replace and repair things (they just want to patch them up) and if you need a major repair, good luck waiting forever. Also, it is quite buggy and different buildings seem to have different insects. I have no roaches, but centipedes all the time. They only have one parking space per unit so yours will often get stolen and you can hear your neighbors - upstairs, downstairs and next door. Thin walls and floors. I find the rent expensive for what you get and for the location. Would I recommend them? Yes, but look around first. You may find something less expensive that is comparable.

I recently moved here and I was pleased with the friendliness of the office staff, the speed in which maintenance responded to problems and the pretty wooded area the units are located in. One of my maintenance issues was not fixed correctly the first time but they returned when I wanted them to and it was fixed the second time. They seem to try and patch things up as much as possible until they HAVE to replace them, but they do seem to care and do a good job. My apartment was nice, had new windows and a new refrigerator, but I did not have a new kitchen or bathroom. The fixtures and cabinets in these rooms were pretty old and took some creative decorating. The carpet had stains and was dingy and I felt it should have been replaced but they did say it was professioinally cleaned. There are a number of spiders and other creepy crawlies since you are near the woods, but no roaches or anything like that. Laundry room is the same - lots of spiders and you find yourself having to go to other buildings when you can't get the one in your own building. This area is very quiet outside and it's a nice mix of ages of people here and not a lot of kids. If your neighbor is noisy, you will hear them especially upstairs if you are not on the top floor. I have that problem unfortunately, but for the most part this is a cute place and would recommend it. If you rent here see if there is a unit available with a new kitchen.

I just moved here in January and I am very happy here. My apartment has new windows, new kitchen and the day I moved in I was surprised with new rugs. The ladies in the management office are very friendly and always helpful. The maintance is great, they keep the apartments looking nice inside and out. If you are looking for an apartment I would definitely recommend Stonewood Village! <P>
