Do Not Live Here!

I have lived in apartments for about 7 years while going to Clemson for undergrad and USC for graduate school. This is the worst apartment I have ever stayed in. I've been a tenant at this dump for the past six months. While this place is rather affordable, sometimes you get what you pay for. Here are a few things you should know.

First, the place is roach infested. I keep my place clean, and I have never had a problem with roaches until I moved into this dump. Now anyone who has lived in South Carolina knows what Palmetto Bugs are and that you will see them anytime you go outside and occasionally one or two will find their way inside. Well, the roaches that live in this apartment complex aren't Palmetto bugs they are the smaller ones that live with you the whole time! I saw these little disgusting critters so often that I wanted them to pay half the rent. Finally, I figured that they were coming into the apartment from large gaps around the plumbing under the kitchen and bathroom sinks. A little spray foam helped tremendously but didn't solve the problem completely.

Secondly, the people at the front office are never there. Good luck trying to reach someone by phone. And they always checkout early so if you don't get off until 4pm or 5pm the office will be closed early. On Fridays and Saturdays you might as well forget about it.

What really took the cake is that they hiked up the water bill approximately 600%. When I first moved in, the water bill was about 5 bucks a month. Three months later they were charging a flat fee of 33 dollars a month plus a $4.25 fee.

If you want something affordable in Columbia try The Riverwind, The Landmark (old but people are nice), or The Hallows.

Here are a couple of other tidbits. One of my classmates who used to reside here said that someone was murdered here a few years back (I dont have any personal knowledge of this. Supposedly it happened before I moved to Columbia.) A lot of the other residents are young (~ 18) with little home training. They like to sit out in the common areas yelling profanities at there cohorts. Lastly, I hope you like your music at 2am.
