Review for Deer Meadow Village Apartments

I cannot believe this apartment complex. It is unbelievable how they handle the property. This is supposed to be a gated apartment complex, but the gate never works. When it does work, It usually takes me anywhere from 3 to 10 swipes of my gate card to get in because it is such a cheap gate. The gate takes about 2 minutes to close after a car goes in. So when someone who is not a resident wants to get in they just park next to the gate and wait for someone to enter with a gate card or leave through the exit. Also, there are no trash cans anywhere in the complex. So this along with the laziness of some residents causes the parking lot to always be full of trash. In addition to trash in the parking lot there are always a bunch of nails. I think the nails are left over from the construction, because up until about a month ago there were several hundred nails in the breezeway in front of my apartment. The first month I lived here I went through 2 tires. Usually I pick up about 2 nails a week in the parking lot when I am walking to my car. Next is the parking issue. There are not near enough parking spaces in the complex. If I come home after about 10pm I have to park at the front of the complex and walk about a quarter of a mile to my building. Since there are no parking spaces the other resident park in the handicapped spaces. When the management was approached about this THE MANAGER SAID THAT THEY ONLY HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO PROVIDE HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACES FOR THE FEW HANDICAPPED RESIDENTS THAT LIVE HERE AND NOT ANYONE VISITING A RESIDENT. Usually when I leave in the morning all the handicapped spaces are full of illegally parked cars, then there are cars are parked along the curb making is very difficult to maneuver around the parking lot, and other cars are parked in front of the garages and in the car wash center. The management has already placed notes on our door that stated that EACH RESIDENCE CAN ONLY PARK ONE CAR IN FRONT OF THEIR APARTMENT BUILDING. THIS MEANS REGARDLESS IF YOU HAVE A ONE BEDROOM OR THREE BEDROOM APARTMENT YOU CAN ONLY PARK ONE CAR IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING. In addition to parking in the lot, a lot of the residents see the need to work on there cars in the lot. One car in front of my building was on jacks with the front tires removed for about a week and a half, and another one decided to remove his gas tank in the parking lot spilling a lot of fuel which destroyed the asphalt. Next is the noise issue. This is not a quiet apartment complex. Loud music with excessive bass is a common occurrence. In fact, I had the joy of listening to the tenet next door try and sing rap with his karaoke machine from about midnight to 3:30am a few days ago. So loud, I could make out the words in my living room which is about 4 walls away from the inconsiderate resident. Oh, and if you call the courtesy officer you just get voicemail at night. The apartments look nice because they are new. However I can assure you that they are extremely cheaply made. The maintenance/upkeep is ridiculous. They do no preventative maintenance. Since I moved in during July they have not been by to change the air filter on the HVAC unit. Also, they have not come by to do preventative pest control. I did have problems with ants for about a month. I am on the second floor and had ants in my kitchen, pantry, and laundry room. I WAS TOLD BY THE MANAGEMENT TO GO AND BUY MY OWN PESTICIDE AND SPRAY FOR ANTS. When I moved in it took them about a month and a half to get the cable hooked up because the construction was so cheap that all the cable lines had been cut in my side of the building. The management here is incompetent. THEY ARE NICE, IF THE ONLY THING YOU WALK IN THE OFFICE TO DO IS GIVE THEM A RENT CHECK. They only care about doing just enough to keep collecting rent checks, and apparently there are some people that will put up with this. However, if you want to look forward to coming home from work then find another place to call home. Because every day I come back home, it is such an ordeal about what this complex is going to do, or not do next.
