Our Review for Crossroads Apartments

CrossRoads Apartments is found near St. Andrew Shopping Center, Strayer University, and Columbia King Buffet in the western part of Columbia near the small town of St. Andrews. Some features of the apartments are a clubhouse, tennis courts, a swimming pool, laundry center, and fitness plaza. Reviews mention the setup of the complex works well and the floor plans are particularly effective. But a handful of reviews would like to see the amenities updated, while others feel the management staff can be disorganized at times.

I only moved in on October 1, 2011, after about a week of being in the apartment I realized the oven did not work, it took them a week to bring another stove from a different apartment, during the same work order I also stated the dishwasher wasn't working and the Refrigerator seal need to be replaced. Three weeks later I am still blocking the dishwasher with towels to stop the water from leaking into the kithchen, dinning room and living. I went to speak with someone again about the problem on November 1, 2011 and called again on November 3, 2011 and the problem still have yet to be corrected. As I stated today, I am not mopping up anymore water and will let it run throughout the apartment until they come and correct the problem. DON'T MOVE IN!!

Basically Crossroads is an ok apartment. The price was great, It was my first apartment and I didn't really have any problems. My only concerns were that a lot of people do hang out, outside the apartments and it made me feel very uncomfortable. I would be walking to my car and all I would hear was "Ay girl!" In my opinion not a very safe place for a female but, for a guy im sure they would love it! Overall the staff was pretty good, never really had a lot of pest control problems every now and then but nothing a little bug spray from lowes couldn't handle. Overall living out there in the winter time was great because no one was ever outside!! But summer time get ready!!!

I went in to talk to one of the staff about my rent and she was so lo7ud about it everyone in the office knew my business before I left the building. I think if our money problem is between the two of us then everyone esle shouldn't know either.

I moved to Columbia in Nov 97 and knowing little about the city, I lived here while familarizing myself with the city. It was inexpensive - about $350 for a studio. I did see an abnormal amount of roaches, but staff usually came to spray when I complained. Water used to be covered in the rent, then they started charging for it and charged extra for hot water usage??? I argued that I payed for the electricity that was used to heat the water. Also, it is located within miles of the SC Correctional Institute. Anytime escapees were on the loose (and it happens more than you think), the place was crawling with Police. Evidently cutting thru this apt complex was the closest route to the interstate or they had family/friends living there. I also remember the police finding 2 bodies in the wooded commons area, victims of a car jacking on I-26. Crossroads does feature two pools, both with an afro-sheen film on the water and constant beat of bass influenced music. I did meet some great friends there, but luckily, I was able to find a much nicer apartment. I moved to Riverview in Feb 1999 and lived there until May 04, when I moved to Greenville.

Crossroads is the biggest apartment complex in South Carolina. You'll have trouble finding better apartments for the money. I moved into a studio for $350 a month. The complex seems to have a shady reputation, but from my experience its a nice and safe place to live. Just make sure you get an apartment with sunlight, because they didn't waste any money on light fixtures.
