Review for Grove At Shelby Farms Apartments

I have lived at Park's Edge/ Formerly Colonial Grand and formerly Grove at Shelby Farms for 2 years. It has been nothing but smoke and mirrors from day one. You think that the security gates function as security gates, but think again. These old gates are left open the entire month of December and most of January. ANYONE can get in with or without a key card!! Break ins are frequent, so much so that they have to have monthly "neighborhood watch" meetings. Which do not work due to lack of a real security gate or guards. There have been as many as 11 home breaks ins in just one month. There have been over 40 crimes reported in a .25 mile radius of my apt. in the last year! Check out the memphis daily news crime mapper and see for yourself. Over 327 crimes reported in the last 2 years of me living here. The only reason I haven't been robbed yet is that I'm home during the day. The first month of me living here the gate malfunctioned and slammed down repeatedly on the hood of my car leaving huge sections of white paint on my black car. The front office refused to pay for it saying that it is in the lease about the malfunctioning of the gate--they aren't responsible. They eventually put a sensor in it due to this problem. The girls at the front office are very incompetent as well as rude. They lie to you to get you to sign a lease. They are very unclear about the terms and rush you for a signature. This place is unsafe and uncaring. I had a friend carjacked on Christmas day in the parking lot! (Dec. 2007) The day after Christmas (Dec. 2008) someone else was ROBBED. Do yourself a favor and stay away...far away.
