Good Experience ( over a year ago )

I just recently moved in and overall I am happy with my apartment. I had a few work orders at move in that were taken care of in a few days and I am satisfied. I see improvement being made in the building. Just wish there was more parking.

There are many up's and downs to the Lee. The location is as good as it gets in Nashville, and the rent is on the cheap side for this part of town.
The bad first. The main problem with the Lee is that the property management company is in another city(Atlanta?). There is an office down the street with a nice staff, but it seems like their hands are tied to get anything done. They will lie to you about maintenance just to get you out. The building and landscape are generally unkept. The elevator is often broken. If you live here, the lower, the better. The biggest problem of all is maintenance. Forget about it. Nothing will ever be fixed....ever. The laundry facility is safe but dirty, expensive and inadequate. There are 4 washers and 4 dryers for the 120 or so people in the building. $1.25 per machine, and the washers can only handle a very small load.
On to the good. As i said, the location is phenomenal! The Lee is an easy walk to Vanderbilt U, Baptist Hospital, countless great restaurants/bars, places of employment, historic music venues, public transit, zipcars, and Nashville's Centennial Park. Groceries take a little effort to get since there is not a good grocer in close distance. The building might leave room for improvement, but i think the apartments are great! Hardwood floors and updated kitchens. All of my appliances were new upon move in(fridge/stove/both a/c). Utilities are included except cable. Internet is very fast here. I haven't experienced any leaks or bugs. If you can deal with window a/c and radiant heating, you will love it. The building has secured entry and is on a pretty quiet street. Tenants are nice, and most have dogs. Although you need your own dog poo bags, because there are never any in the outdoor dispenser. Parking can fill at times, but you can always find it on the street(this is the city, not Walmart). The building is very old which means it is stable, it could probably take a direct hit from a tornado and still survive. The thick walls and floor slabs muffle outside noise. However, electrical outlets are scarce and some might not work(remember maintenance?). I would say the rent is fair. The price-point competition in the area tends to be a run down roach motel. Pet rent is $10 a month with no breed/size restrictions.
All in all, i would recommend the Lee to someone who can deal with the shortcomings. If they could fix their maintenance issues it would be a wonderful place to live. There might be nicer apartments in the suburbs, and more modern(expensive!) ones in the city, but the Lee is fair for the price if you don't expect too much.

The Lee has added more maintenance workers and service has improved since I moved in a few months ago. Another rater commented that we have no bathtubs. Every apartment on my floor has a tub, including the studios. All utilities are included. There are good clubs and restaurants within walking distance: I can sometimes hear live music when I open my apartment windows. I recommend The Lee.

i lived here from '89 to '92. i expect some things have changed since then, but hopefully not too much. i do not currently live in nashville, but if i were to move back, i would love to live here again.
the coolest things: just around the corner from

The apartments themselves are very chic. They have a kind of funky appeal. HOwever, if anything goes wronge it is very very very difficult to get it fixed. Plus there is no bath tub, only a shower.
