Expensive... worth it? ( over a year ago )

The people are great. Friendly neighbors and nice management. The Repairs take about a week in all my experiences, unless it is entirely urgent (plumbing/heat) Its really pricey in my openion. my electricty bill is also huge. Great amount of closet space, and great windows. nice kitchen with a dishwasher :) nice sized pool with a great bar-b-que area with a couple grills and shaded tables.

I have lived in this complex for six years, and overall have been reasonably happy. You can definitely tell that this complex was built around the 60's - the apartments have cheap cabinets, doors, and fixtures, but there is LOT of closet space. The complex is well-maintained, and the maintenance is outstanding. I have never had to wait longer than two days for a maintenance request to be seen to, and usually the problem is fixed within 24 hours, faster if the problem is emergent (i.e., plumbing). The exception to this is a persistent condensation problem in my utility closet that they have been unable to solve (not for lack of trying).

The complex is well-lit and employs an outside security firm to perform drive-by's at night. However, there are no gates nor electronic surveillance, and I have recently had a problem with a peeping tom that no one can catch. The police drive by several times each night as well, so I am not overly concerned with my safety.

The neighborhood is improving, and is now filled with luxury condos and townhomes. Nonetheless, this complex is pretty cheap for the neighborhood. It is walking distance from Vanderbilt University, and many of my neighbors are graduate students there or at nearby Belmont University. It is pretty quiet, although the sound of water flowing through the pipes whenever any of the neighbors flush the toilet, shower, etc., is pretty loud.

The only real complaint I have is that there are no washers and dryers in the apartments themselves. Instead there is a coin laundromat on-site. This has been a bigger inconvenience than I would have thought.
