I have mixed feelings about this place. While it wasn't the prettiest place I've ever lived, it was pretty safe. I lived in the town homes on the middle dead end street for a year (Feb 2008 - Jan 2009).

The apartments themselves were pretty cheap in terms of construction. I could always hear my neighbor every morning hawking up loogies in the bathroom (that's how thin the walls are) or when my neighbors fought I could hear them yelling at each other... nothing serious, just marital fighting I guess. Of course I could always hear the kids running up and down the stairs too. Nothing that really bothered me though. Loud music was usually only played on the weekends and it was tejano music so nothing “booming” I suppose. The carpet was old and crusty, but looked decent for its age. I liked having the back patio area... as long as the neighbor's 4 to 5 year old kids weren't throwing their toys and beer cans over my fence and my neighbors fences yelling "f*** you" at the top of their lungs.

My biggest complaint is the roach problem. It was BAD. I mean REALLY bad. If you called for pest control they'd come by early in the morning on a Thursday and tap real lightly on your door so you wouldn't hear them and then run off to your neighbor's place to do the same until they'd gotten to everyone. I know this for a fact because I got so fed up with it that I waited by the door one Thursday for the guy to come by so I wouldn't miss him and I had to run out the door to catch him 2 houses down! Either way... it took me a few months after I moved out to get rid of all the roaches that got into my TV, moving boxes, ect.

The apartment itself was relatively decent as far as layout and size go. The laminate floor in the bathroom under the counter wasn't even glued to the floor; I could literally pick it up and put it in another room. The toilet downstairs constantly flushed on its own which added to my water bill and the tank was dirty so it always left some weird dirt-like residue in the toilet bowl. On the flip side, the kitchen area was large and spacious which was nice. I liked being able to park in front of my door (when the neighbors weren't parked in my spot), but visitor parking was TERRIBLE! Good luck finding a spot on your street. They'll probably end up parking on Cranford Dr. which didn't feel very safe to me.

Being in a town home, I enjoyed the 2 story apartment, but the second floor was ALWAYS hot! Even in the winter it was warmer upstairs than downstairs (though it was cold in the winter). Our heater blew out cold air so I stopped bothering with it. When maintenance came by they said that because it was electric heat and because it's an old unit there was nothing they could do about it. Insulation is nonexistent there. The A/C was decent downstairs though.

I never really knew any of my neighbors but I'm assuming that the people that lived in my apartment before me weren't that great because a month after we moved in the Garland police department busted our door down looking for a drug bust. Of course nothing was found since they had the wrong people but we were still humiliated in front of our new neighbors. The landlord informed me that the previous renters were evicted, but weren't specific on why.

Maintenance was a little slow, but at least they came out. They would usually get back with you in roughly a weeks time and they were nice people. Some didn’t speak much English though. The office staff would be nice on some days and on others (like when you need something fixed) they'd act like they didn't know anything about the complex. Overall they were pretty nice people I suppose.

Over all... as long as you didn't have a complaint or need anything fixed, it was decent. It's a cheap place to live, so I suppose it was a good deal for the price, seeing as how it was close to a major area of Dallas. While it was a decent experience I won't be moving back.
