Apartment Review for Oak Chase Apartments

My husband and I just moved out of this place after living there for a year! They are very overpriced apartments. We have 2 kids under the age of 2 and they were charging us a $115.00 water bill counting each child as an adult! There is NO WAY a newborn and a 1 year old use that much water! Also they don’t charge you a water bill until the 3rd month you have lived there so when you move out you have a huge 3 month bill to pay them! Another thing is ANTS! They are everywhere and no matter how much I clean they keep coming back! Exterminators do nothing about it. I am a housewife so my apartment was very well kept so it was not because we were dirty. Our apartment was at the back of the complex against the gate so people always walk their dogs and let them crap by my windows and patio and NEVER pick it up, so anytime we went outside or opened the windows to let in the fresh breeze all we got was the stench of dog crap! Kids and people are always walking in the middle of the road so you can’t drive straight through. If you honk or ask them to move you will get the finger or something obscene shouted at you. Water is constantly getting shut off and never on the scheduled day. When our lease was almost up we notified them that we were moving out because we were buying a house they were not very happy about it. When we left they said we owed them 400 dollars. We turned in the money order for the $400 and when I asked them to explain the charges and all they kept saying was water and carpet cleaning. When I told her it didn’t make any sense to me I asked to see some paperwork she couldn’t figure out where she got the amount she charged me. We were being overcharged by $200! She changed the amount owed to 200 as it should have been from the beginning not $400! She asked me to get her a money order for the difference and she would return my previous payment. When I did this they wouldn’t write me a check for my money instead they returned the same $400 money order I had given her that was already made out to them. My bank wouldn’t cash it since the money order was made out to them. The store where I got it gave me **** before they finally just cashed it and gave me my money back I was there for 8 hours. I was told that they should know better than to just return a money order that’s already been written out to them because they knew I would have to go through trouble getting my money back! I was especially angry because when I called the complex for help they were rude to me and flat out refused to help me and said they were done with us. I feel like an IDIOT of trusting them they act so sweet and nice but they use that niceness to steal your money right from under you! Please stay away they are crooks. I wish I had read the reviews before I moved here as many of them say the same things! BEWARE and if you do lease pay close attention to everything they charge you!
