This place is beautiful. That you cannot complain about. I and many of the people I know feel pretty safe here (for the most part) but we seem to have a few problems that you should know about before wanting to move in.
This is a pretty nice place to live overall. The apartments are pretty upscaled, but dont let the beauty fool you. Below are just a few things that I and a few other tenants cant stand. But overall, this place is nice...for an apartment complex. Remember, you cant expect perfection from an apartment complex.
Break-ins and thievery:
Bicycles and anything else left outside are constantly getting stolen. That should be a no brainer to NOT leave stuff outside, so just dont do it because it will get stolen. Our gym was just robbed not too long ago, thieves came in and ripped a few flatscreen tvs right off the walls in the gym. Now we have no tvs in there, and it will probably stay that way. We had 3 or 4 security cameras in there that apparently saw it all but I dont think they ever caught the people that did it.
Usually the car break-ins happen when its either raining, storming, or late at night when people are partying at the pool but it has been happening more and more lately. Especially the cars parking around our Pool area. The people at the pool are usually walking back to their cars (yeah, their cars...they dont live here) to leave around 2, 3, 4 am so we are thinking that some of them are breaking into our cars for fun. My car has an alarm and hasn't been messed with so far but the thieves are breaking into more and more of them so Im getting nervous and ****** off. Just the other day, a new tenant moved in and her car was broken into. Her stuff was stolen and the cops dusted her car for prints. I felt so bad, that tennant just moved in here this week!
BUGS:
Yes, bugs. The grounds are green and pretty but with all of the lush grass and shrubbery comes all the BUGS. There are MASSIVE AMOUNTS of fire ant piles all over the grounds here and no one does anything about it. Our dogs and kids that like playing in the grass are constantly getting bitten up. A few people have complained to the office but we are obviously being brushed off. You would think that an apartment complex would spray for bugs and ants regularly (especially considering that these apartments are NOT cheap and SO MANY people live here) but Chez Moi absolutely does not.
Some of my friends have started to see large cockroaches inside their apartments. I live cleanly so Im ******. Im not sure where the roaches are coming from but now I see them in my place too! They say once you see one, there are thousands more....so thats just great. Both ants and cockroaches are inside the apartment units, they coming in from between the walls. I went and bought bug spray (the good stuff) and sprayed every crevice in my apartment but they are still popping out here and there (its not as bad anymore though). So whether you keep a clean or messy house, you will still see them.
SECURITY:
The fenced-in complex with both security gates provide a false sense of security. The gates are constantly stuck in the open position because they dont work correctly so anyone can come and go as they please, and they do...all night. And when the gates ARE working, people will sometimes sit at the gate and wait for you to punch the code to let yourself (and their vehicle) in.
We constantly have people swimming in the pool (especially at night) that dont live here or know anybody that lives here. There is a guard that comes around once in a while to check peoples names at the pool but that doesnt stop people from coming. Also, dont rent an apartment by the pool unless you dont mind ALOT of drunken noise. The college students are constantly there at night (almost every night) screaming, screwing around, and getting drunk until 2 or 3 in the morning sometimes. So pick a unit far away from the pool if you like a little peace and quiet when youre sleeping.
KIDS:
We dont really have very many little kids here. So if you are not a kid fan, then you'll probably like it here. You dont have to worry about a ton of kids running around all the time. There just arent many here.
HOWEVER, there are a TON of college kids. Drama, drama, drama! We are literally right next to Austin Community College (NorthRidge) which is a short 5-10 minute walk from the apartments. The college people here are EXACTLY what you'd expect for college-aged people to act like. They can't park correctly, they are obnoxiously LOUD neighbors, they are constantly running around screaming and yelling at eachother. You name it....you know, typical college stuff. Its not too bad though, as long as you are the type that likes to party and be silly too. There are just alot of students here and it can be overwhelming sometimes. But, you never feel unsafe. You just have to maintain patience with the youths. So if you are looking for a more mature, respectful, intellectual crowd...you may want to keep looking.
MAINTENANCE:
Maintenance is pretty fast and gets most jobs done pretty quickly but they are not very friendly people. Carlos, one of our maintenance guys is constantly speeding around in his white truck BLASTING his rap or mexican music at top volume. He seems really shady, and people talk about him constantly going in an out of garage unit #11J with other shady looking people at all hours of the night and super-early in the morning.
As a tenant trying to sleep, you can always hear him on his cell yelling and cursing in spanish to somebody. I hate looking out of my peephole and there is Carlos walking really slow up the stairs just yelling all kinds of rude crap into his phone or yelling at a buddy across the street. Alot of our female population feels like he OGLES on a regular basis. He makes some of them feel uncomfortable especially when he walks through the pool area during working hours and stares. No one likes him. But...his maintenance is pretty fast and he seems friendly when he is in your apartment. Its just that he is unprofessional when running/driving around outside of the apartment units.
OFFICE PEOPLE:
Ok, there are a few new faces so Im not sure about everbody. Josh is the only one in this office that seems to be worth anything. He remembers tenants names and is always professional and courteous when you speak to him. When you need something done, if you speak to Josh then it gets done...quickly. As far as Im concerned, everyone else in that office is worthless or snotty and doesnt help do much at all.
One thing that really makes alot of us angry is that the office folks ALWAYS have the rear entrance locked...ALWAYS. So if you are a tenant and you need to walk into the office, you have to walk all the way around to the front of the building to go inside. I hate that they lock us out from the rear entrance, that is our closest entry for those of us that live here. If the weather is bad and I need to get inside to speak to them, then I have to get drenched and run around to the front of the building. They obviously only care about new prospective tenants and people that arrive using the front door. We want to be able to walk in from the rear entrance, we do have that right after all. They should have nothing to hide, why should we be locked out and funneled in through one door to make it more convenient for them?
So here are a list of things that WE the tenants of CHEZ MOI want to see changed (these are NOT in order of importance):
1. Get a friggin Security Guard that roams the complex, security cameras, or something to help protect our vehicles and our well-being/safety. We are tired of paying luxury apartment prices for ghetto apartment living in our parking lots.
2. It would be GREAT if there were enough parking to accomodate everyone that lives here AND everyone that comes here and steals our parking spots while they swim in our pool. Then we wouldnt have to walk a mile to our doors in the middle of the night.
3. How about fixing the Gates. It would be nice to have our security gates working on a full time basis. Maybe even change the code once in a while so people stop coming and going as they please.
4. Spray for bugs in and around the apartments on a regular basis. Doesnt our high rent warrant that? And listen when we tell you that there are ants and bugs everywhere.
5. Hire staff that care about their jobs. We are sick of your ghetto maintenance men and snotty office people.
6. Either stop charging us $10 to pay our rent online or stop making us feel like we are bothering you when we swipe our cards to pay our rent at the office. Oh, and STOP leaving our rent checks all over the place. How about a nice, SECURE drop box or something. There are times when I could go in and swipe peoples personal checks (if I wanted to) that are left on the front desks.
7. How about making the laundry machines coin accessible instead of the shady credit/check card machine that you have to use to do laundry. Most of us just go to a normal laundrymat to do our laundry.
8. How about more dog poop "stations". As fas as I can see, there is 1 little traschcan with bags for dog poop. But you have to walk through the grass (and through dog poop that people dont pick up) to get to it. So it is a great idea but it is pretty useless.
*So in all, come to Chez Moi if you want a nice apartment that is close to the college. It is pretty safe and quiet during the day and as long as you mind your business and dont start trouble, youll love it here. But dont expect anything above the norm. This is an apartment after all.
Thanks for listening.

Parking is an issue for most people here.
I have an attached garage, so parking is not an issue for me. Twice I have had people park in front of my garage blocking me in. The staff quickly found the offending people and had them move the vehicle (nice for them, they could have had it towed).
Overall the experience has been pleasant, nice modern apartments with few problems. I only wish that my upstairs neighbors didn't vacuum twice a day.
Nolan has done a lot of upgrading of the grounds/parking lot to keep it nice.

Well the staff has been honest and genuine, Josh remembered our situation and was sincere enough to give us some extra time to move in. When we walked in the floor and counters were a little dirty from the painting and "turning" of the apt but Josh took care of us and made sure we were satisfied with our decision. Maintnance is superb here, the head maintnance guy is quick and professional. Parking sucks if you come home after about 3-4 but the grounds are so nice i dont mind the small walk to my apt when i get home. So far i feel safe, the acees gate works even though all acess gates break from time to time so its ok if they go ever go down. I cant complain about noise because there hasnt been any, but with one little toddler and a new born I'll probably be the loudest tenant here.. Sorry. Now this is just a preliminary review but so far i havent found any reasons why anyone shoulnt atleast consider this place. The area is close as possible to evverything we need to be close to. ACC is right up the street, HEB is less then 5 mins away, best buy is about 4 mins away, resturaunts galore and apparenlty theres a fire station and hospital nearby which puts me at ease..

I've lived at Chez Moi for a year now and very satisfied! I was almost reluctant to move her after reading some of the reviews, but I'm glad I did. I will be renewing my lease this month. The property is absolutely gorgeous and the management staff is great. One thing I really enjoy about living is here, is that there is lots of community activities and the people that live here are nice. My remodeled unit is superb and the view is awesome! I've not had any problems with my utility bills and do recommend Chez Moi to my friends!

I have been very happy with this complex. Look, it is an apartment complex, not a $300,000 condo with a concierge. The grounds are very well-kept, even in the far back (where I am). If I put in a maintenance request for something as minor as "the pull chain on the ceiling fan is broken," (something that could go on the bottom of the list), it is still fixed w/in 24 hours. They also always leave a note with the signatures of what staff entered the apartment and when (nice, you feel better when you know who they are). The neighbors are nice, and I have yet to hear my next-door neighbors.
Downside - Parking sucks. There is not enough "free" parking for each building, and the parking spaces are cramped. In order to guarantee a space "near" your building, you pretty much HAVE to pay for either a garage or a covered spot.

The team welcomed my daughter with open arms and made her entire move- very smooth.
My daughter lived at chez moi and I visited quite often.
She had very prompt responses to her requests- whether they be minor maintenance repairs she needed or questions about her lease. The staff helped her with directions to her local stores and truley were very attenative to her. I was comfortable knowing the office staff was as responsive as they were, my being out of town and Kristen was on her own.
Thank you for taking good care of my daughter.

SOOOOO Much better than the last management. Since the rehab, rents have gone up but what a masterpiece they have created. They have even added a party staff to cater to the residents. I read the last review which must have been some of the snobs that live here... money want to be.going so fast they don't even know how lucky they have it. I say, check around, I did and I choose Chez Moi
CHEZ MOI TENANTS HUGHE WATER BILL CHARGE INCREASE

THE EXTERME INCREASE IN WATER BILL CHARGES TO TENANTS IS THE ONLY CONCERN/COMPLAINT I HAVE IN LIVING AT CHEZ MOI aka WALKER'S BLUFF ON METRIC BLVID. AUSTIN, TX. I moved into this project in 2005 then know as Walkers Bluff. I am still presently living her now under new ownership/manangement as Chez Moi. However, I am concern on renewing my lease due to the extreme water bill increase over the last two months as all the tenants here are concerned. I do not understand why tenants water bill has gone from mid $20's/ upper $20's a month to $52.00 a month for two individuals in a 1058 sq. foot apartment. I can see no justification by owners/managment or City of Austin Water Utility for the increase. I have had non of the other problems as stated in tenants reviews I have read. <P>
