Apartment Reviews for The Gables Town Lake
These Apartments Are Ridiculously Overpriced For What You Get

I stayed there from November 2010 to October 2011 and was so happy to leave. Apartments are ridiculously overpriced for what you get. You are paying only for location. I stayed there only for the convenient location to downtown and my work.
The construction quality of the apartments is very poor and cheap. The whole building rattled whenever someone else closed their door hard. I was in a first floor apartment, and there was very loud popping and cracking and pounding and vibration of my ceiling and walls caused by the tenants in the apartment above me and the poor construction of the apartment building. Also the apartments are very energy inefficient due to poor insulation in the walls and old single pane windows. I could not believe how the cold and heat just penetrated right through the walls and windows of my apartment. My air conditioner ran almost nonstop in the hot months, and there was a bone chilling cold draft during the cold months. My utility bill was very high because of the poor insulation and old windows. Austin is supposed to be an eco-friendly town, but this place sure isn't. Also there is no noise insulation from outside and from other apartments.
This is a dog crazy complex too. Many tenants have dogs that you can hear barking and that they often let run around without a leash, even though there is supposedly a leash law there. Finally the community manager was rude and disrespectful to me in trying to get problems resolved. Her and her staff use stall tactics and misinformation to try to wear you down into forgetting about it.
The only good things I can say about this place is that the location is good, there is a washer and dryer in the apartments, and that the apartment maintenance guys were couteous and friendly. Other than that, forget it. Spend your money elsewhere.
