Apartment Review for Baker Downs

Lived here a year and a half or so. In that time, one of the 2 pools never worked and was never open. Fitness room was a BS amenity they listed on their brochures that never ever opened. Both mine and my wife's car were burglarized several times. I had a car stolen from my parking space on a weeknight. It turned up in Houston stripped to the bone and was a total loss to me. Neighbors coming and going, some only lasting a couple months - but long enough to have fights, get stabbed, drip blood on the sidewalk, wake you in the middle of the night, etc. No, I am not exaggerating any of this. Water was shut completely off without notice many times. Closest laundry room was always so bad (always broken) that we had to drive somewhere else to do laundry. Utility bill was too high due to poor seal on front door. I did a repair myself by buying some foam seal tape when I put in for a repair with the office. The repair guy took off my temp job and made it worse!!! Oh, and apartment personnel came into our apartment without notice while we were gone at work. This is ILLEGAL in Texas. I bought cameras to try and catch them, but they tape was erased. Know how I knew they came in? Cigarette ash left in the apartment. (It definitely did not belong to my wife or myself.) Unless you like the crime-ridden ghetto where everything is brokend down and people are coming into your home, I would stay far away. It's such a shame too. The property has a great location and so much potential. Say Away!!! <P>
