When I lived here, I did not feel safe. The complex is located in a high-crime part of Dallas and security for people and property is woefully inadequate. All times of day and night, people were roaming freely around the complex without purpose or a legitimate reason to be there. In return, the apartment published a "curfew" for its residents to prevent loitering! How insulting is that?
The most telling part of my experience was upon moving out. The leasing agents told me I was entitled to receive 100% of my deposit. State law mandates that deposits are to be refunded within 30 days or notice shall be given as to the reason for not receiving a refund. 40-some-odd days later, I returned to inquire about my deposit. I was told that it would take another two weeks to get a check from the corporate office in Colorado. I returned the next day with a letter. The letter cited the Texas law that guarantees timely deposit refunds and allows residents to sue for a significant amount more than the original deposit.
I received my check from Colorado in two days. It was dated with the same date as my hand-delivered letter. Interesting...
