I'm A Perfect Tenant.....Living In A Far-From-Perf

If you just need a hole to go home to, no problem. But as soon as there is a problem, and you may require just a tiny bit of attention (like your air conditioning unit breaks, or the ceiling is dripping water), you better have a degree in PATIENCE, or know how to fix it yourself. I have to get down-right ugly to get anyone to listen. And forget trying to "get to know the staff." There's a new person in there each week, so you are constantly have to deal with the "learning curve." Which means, errors on their part become my problem. They are quick to find you if you still owe 25 cents on your water bill, but where are they when you are in need of something? I picked Sunset Oaks when I was new to the area because of the price. My credit is excellent and I could have bought a home, but because I was new to Dallas I wanted to rent to see what part of town I wanted to buy a home in. Sunset Oaks appeared to be inexpensive with a lot of ammenities. If it looks to good to be true, it is.....remember that. What might look good on paper, is a whole different thing in real life. I currently live there, but am in the process of leaving. The service I have received, and the way I have been treated, makes me feel like I do live in the slums. Not one of the staff actually lives on the premises. Why do you think that is?

It's a shame really. It has the potential to be decent; but lack of staff and ambition leaves this place full of the type of people you wouldn't choose to interact with. Lately, crime is on the rise. Cop cars are in the parking lots more and more due to troubled kids.

It's quiet, and plenty of parking. I'll give them that. But if those are the only two things you are interested in, I've got a piece of property in the dead of Alaska you might be interested in that can offer you both of those. Sunset Oaks has taught me a valuable lesson, WHY RENT WHEN YOU CAN BUY? I doubt apartment living is this bad everywhere, but if you can avoid living here, I would. The staff is the deal breaker for me. If I could trust and feel good about the people who run the place, I could feel better about the property. But with the constantly changing staff and the non-stop finger pointing (it's not my job syndrome), I fear the "potential" of this place is caught up in the revolving door.

One year here was enough for me. It's an experience that not everyone should have to have. Overall, I'd give it a 2. Oh, as for the ammenities, there is no basketball court or car wash, like the brochure states. So don't let those features be what sucks you in. The hottub, unless you just want to look at it, shoudn't be the reason either. Good luck trying to ever use it!

If you just need a place to put your head for the next 6 months, go ahead. It's a cheap place with the bare essentials. This will do the job. But if you are looking for a place to call "home".....keep looking. In my opinion, Sunset Oaks does not meet the requirements to plant my roots.
