Review for University Uptown Apartments

Yes, we thought Uptown were the most beautiful apartments in the world. Close to campus, good bus stop and nice apartment layouts seemed like they would suit us perfect. But we were completely wrong.

They are extemely overpriced apartments that drain student's bank accounts every month, unless you are still depending on your parents who are accustomed to paying for the pricey dorms. This rent is next to impossible for hardworking students trying to compensate for rent AND other bills.

Yes, the apartment is large with walk-in closets and private bathrooms, but that's about it. The maintenance is never on time, sometimes WEEKS late (I had a broken toilet for 1 and a half weeks). Since there are so many college students, it is never quiet (Students hitting a PINATA at 3:00 in the morning!!) The people in the hot tub and pool can be heard in the late hours of the night screaming and yelling with fun and laughter. Apartment buildings located next to the freeway never hear the end of the honking and speeding cars. Ambulances and helicoptors constantly make noise in and out of the hospital across the street. The main office is quick to evict you, even if you are merely 3 WEEKS LATE on rent. Stay on time and they will leave you alone. The pest control problem was awful, Ant Piles, spiders and scorpions were often seen throughout the apartment, especially in my room. For the first 6 months of our lease, the hot water broke at least ONCE A WEEK!! The heat went out during the ice storm and the maintenance men appeared 2 days later to fix the problem.

BREAKING YOUR LEASE is the worse situation I have ever went through in my life. If you ever want to leave the apartment, you not only have to pay $350 to break the lease but find ANOTHER STUDENT to take over the lease or continue to pay the rent until they can find someone else to move in.

Before you decide to move in these nice apartments, review that list of horrible situations and rethink signing that lease! It will be a BAD MISTAKE!
