I've been dumb enough to live at Mountain Village Apts for the past three years. In that three years, I never encountered too many problems to make me want to leave the complex. However, on August 9, 2006, a fire occured in the wall between my apartment and my next door neighbor's apartment which made our apts, as well as the two downstairs flats, unlivable. This is where the nightmare began. Without going into too much detail, suffice it to say that management and staff mishandled this situation from the start. First of all, let me state that the acting manager at the time left almost immediately after the fire due to maternity leave. The rest of the staff mishandled everything, such as customer service (they seemed put out by my requests for maintenance to fix NUMEROUS problems with the new apt they set me up in). At one point just after the fire in my old apt, maintenance actually left used matches on the floor of my new apt. Wasn't one fire enough?
Many maintenance request remained unresolved for weeks at a time. The excuse proferred by the staff at the apt complex was that they were backed up with maintenace requests. Whatever happened to alerting the resident that that is the fact? I never heard from the staff that there was such a back up in maintenance requests, and the one response offered by a staff member at the apartment complex was that it was necessary to assess the problem and then fix it. How does one assess the problem when the problem is a faulty light switch? Just replace the damn switch! This is what took three weeks to fix. Thanks, Mountain Village Apts!
I will not be renewing my lease there and would highly recommend against signing a lease with this apartment complex. Read the other reviews and you will see that I am not the only disgruntled resident at this complex.
