Review for Villa Sierra Apartments

Management is rude and sexist (they give perks to male tenants, but are cruel and unfair with female tenants).
4 motorcycles have been stolen in the past year -- it is NOT a safe neighborhood.
Tenants let their dogs poop everywhere and don't clean it up.
Tenants drive with music blaring, which sets off countless car alarms many times every single night.
Tenants are extremely inconsiderate: I paid for assigned covered parking and at least once a week someone else had parked in my spot.
The dumpsters overflow with trash on a weekly basis. Tenants leave their garbage on the side of the road in large, disgusting piles.
Maintenance entered my apartment without warning or notice, while my husband and I were not dressed decently.
Maintenance disconnected the power and water to our building for 6 hours without notifying us at all -- Management blamed maintenance for not telling us; maintenance blamed management.
The utilities are billed based on the "community billing" system, meaning our bill was an average of the TOTAL utilities used by our building. My husband and I are penny-pinchers and turn the TV/microwave/lights off whenever we aren't using them (saves us tons of money each month USUALLY). Our monthly electric bill was still extremely high though because we were paying for our neighbors' electricity -- our neighbors that left the TV/lights/computers on all day.
There were a lot of "hidden fees" at closing: i.e. $35 Carpet-cleaning, an extra-month's utility bill, etc. which were NOT mentioned when I signed the lease.

There were a lot of small problems that came with the apartment, which management NEVER fixed (I guess they expected me to fix them):
- The light switches were black with dirt when I moved in.
- The water faucets were all calcified; water would not flow through them properly.
- The carpeting was covered in stains and matted down from over-use. Management said they would fix this -- THEY NEVER DID!.
- The dishwasher broke after 3 months and maintenance was unable to fix it. Management NEVER REPLACED IT. I was stuck with a broken dishwasher for 9 months until my lease finally ran out.
- When management *tried to fix* the dishwasher, a large amount of water leaked all over the carpet. Management and maintenance did NOTHING to clean it up, leaving me to deal with the stinky mess.

Overall, extremely disappointed with complex. This place needs a major overhaul and a cheaper price tag for what it offers. If you feel like you HAVE to give this place a try, get a month-by-month lease so you don't suffer like I did!
