NIGHTMARE @ WEST TOWN

My husband and I are in the military and after spotting West Town apartments I fell in love. This place was cozy and very spacious plus the price was not too shabby. After getting settled in we noticed that parking was starting to become a hassle especially if we ever stayed out passed 9pm on a weekday being that there is no assigned parking in the lot. My biggest complaint about the place was not the parking or the apartment itself or even the staff until we needed things to get accomplished or fixed. The first time I met the manager she gave us a tour of the apartment and was not intrested in explaining anything about the property but was more fixed on telling us her life story. I mentioned to her that I would like to pay for an apartment with upgrades which would include an above the stove microwave, satin painted stripes in the living, kitchen and dining rooms, and wood blinds throughout. She agreed that it would be fine to add the special features and pay $20 more a month for the upgrades. On the day we were to move in she handed me the keys and gave me a checklist to verify what was wrong with the place. We went up to the apartment expecting all that was agreed upon before moving in and to our surprise found that there was no special paint, no wood blinds and no above the stove microwave. I hurridly went down to the main office and explained that we were missing those features and she said that it would be taken care of. The microwave was the first to arrive after waiting a couple of weeks and still no sign of the wood blinds or paint even though my husband and I had been paying the extra monthly fee. So I tried to be patient calling down to the office reminding management that I had yet to receive the other upgrades and they kept telling me that they had to place it on order so just wait. After three months of consistantly being told excuse after excuse my upgrades finally made it in. Belive it or not, when I called to remind management they had the maintance bring it within 10mins so it must have been in the storage room sitting there for God knows how long. I tried to avoid the office staff as much as possible because I knew that if I needed something to get done from them it was never going to. My last and most important complaint about the staff was the time of our departure from West Town. My husband had to leave for school out of state for the military for about a month and half and when he was due to come back we would be PSCing. I made sure that I told the manager specifically that we had no choice but to leave when we got our orders and had to cut our lease short. Management promised me that everything would be fine and we would receive a prorated rental charge back as soon as we gave her our forwarding address. Seven months later and phone call after phone call she denies to this day that any money is due to us and that she said any sort of thing. I have been getting bill statements from Time Warner Cable when we had internet while living at West Town with a zero dollars even though I had cancelled this account after relocating. I called and spoke with a rep from TWC and asked why would I be receiveing a zero balance if my account is closed and the rep stated that the modem was not turned in and if it was then West Town failed to remove my name from the account. I am a very easy going person...but if you promise me that you will do something I take your word and believe it. My apartment stay minus the headache of the lazy staff at West Town apartments was lovely. The management staff needs to step down and let true professionals run the team. Military especially beware of these liars!!! <P>
