Response to Office Staff ( over a year ago )

Our resident referral amount changes frequently as do all of our specials. An old flyer is no guarantee of a particular referral amount. The amount paid is set by the manager when the referred resident signs their lease. In this case that amount was $400 which would have been paid promptly had the referred resident not been evicted for non-payment for rent.
We follow all Fair Housing laws and our Equal Housing Opportunity poster is on display in the manger's office. We are members in good standing of the Houston Apartment Association, the Texas Apartment Association, and the National Apartment Association. Any genuine violation of Fair Housing or Equal Opportunity Employment laws should be reported to the proper authorities.

I just read the review before this and they are so wrong. I think the office staff is AWESOME. I know they are doing everything thing they can to make this a great place. I don't feel there is any prejudice going on, they just want quality people here. I have been here with other management and can say as an african american resident that I feel this is the best management ever. Maybe you dont see what I see but as far as I can see they treat everyone the same. I see a lot of good changes going on.

I am a residence at Ashford Court Apartments and I how found to my knowledge that the Office Staff that is here now 2009-2010 seems to be very prejudice. First of all they have removed all of the (black)employees they had working here when my daughter first moved here in the beginning of 2009. I discovered these apartments in 2009 when my daugter moved here and thought it was a lovely place to live. The leasing agents were courteous and friendly and it was not just African Americans, there were also two Spanish Ladies. When I moved here in September 2009 I noticed a lot of changes, and with those changes came a new staff, and new manager who "quote" ask me to go on rateyourapartment.com and put in a good review for her and the complex. Her name is Robin. Second of all, I don't think that Ashford Court is following the Federal and State Laws. Since I have been a residence here there is no EQUAL HOUSING OPPORTUNITY POSTER anywhere in the office. I was also told that if I get approved an move in that my daughter will recieve $500 dollars off her rent and I still have the flyer to prove it. When I moved in the manager, which is Robin, and the assistant manager which is Roxanne, denied that it was $500 and said that they are willing to give her only $400 off her rent if the rent is paid on time. The point is I told them that that was not the agreement when I was approved and moved In. I also told them that when the other manager was here which was Jane Arrieta, who did my paper work and check my status, and got permission from Robin to let me in with a $300 deposit, the agreement and understanding was that in 3 months my daughter would get $500 off her rent, and they did not give it to her. She stated that my flyer was old and that they had new flyers now that stated you get $400 dollars off your rent if you refer a friend. So I asked the manager, Robin, to please show me a copy of that flyer. I told her I know it's the policy to keep track of every thing as far as comprehensive records transaction dealing with the property. She had one of the leasing agents look on the computer to find it, I stood there for about 15 minuter and no one could pull it up and the manager did not bother to pull it up, she said to me and my daughter take the $400 or get nothing. I left the office patiently and well understood, just saying ok, yall have a greet day. And this was just a few months ago. This complex has it's picks and chooses and I think they want the blacks out and mexicans/spanish in only.
