Apartment Reviews for Oak Forest Apartments - Lewisville

Take photos and do a walk-through accompanied by a member of the staff before you leave. I left my apartment spotless and recieved a $325 bill 3 weeks later. When I refused to pay it they put it on my redit report.

The rent is getting a little high considering the area, but overall it isn't bad. My assigned parking space is right by my stairs and visitor parking is usually not too difficult to find. There are a lot of kids here! A lot! And they make a lot of noise on the weekends and before and after school. Maintenence is fairly prompt and gets done within a few days of requests. The staff keeps changing, so that is a little annoying. Really if you like the area it isn't bad. And the police patrol regularly. <P>

The apartments were nice and most of the staff was nice as well. But my only complaint is about the theft that went on while I lived in the apartments. My building and the buildings around me dealt with repeated car and motorcycle thefts. At one point is was happening once a week for about a month straight. Im not sure what the apartments can do about it, but I as well as other residents complained to the office, and nothing was done.
This is just my point of view on the apartments, and like I said, everything else was great, its just I didn't feel safe leaving my car in the parking lot.

I can't say that I have anything nice to say other than, the apartment itself was nice.

The manager of the property, was also nice, but the assistant manager Diane was not.

I was at the end of my lease of 9 months and got laid off. I explained to the office that I would not be able to make the rent for the last month of my lease and that I would be moving. They informed me of the procedures and said they would work with me.

I had left out of town to make my moving arrangements and when I returned, I found that I had been burglarized. I filed a police report, and found out that the asst manager had turned off the power to my apartment, turning off my alarm as well as the refrigerator. Not only did this give the theives easy access, but it also ruined the refrigerator. There was food left in it and when I returned, you could not even open it without nats and stinch coming out of it. When I called the office to report the burglary, Diane told me that she had turned it off, because the alarm kept going off. Thanks alot!!!

Needless to say, not only did I lose things, but the apartments later charged me for replacement of the refrigerator, the carpet, a microwave, a door etc etc...adding up to the sum of 3800.00

It was also brought to my attention by the police department, that they had just recently came out to a similar call. Another tenant moving had left items in the apartment and returned to get them, and also found that he had been burglarized. Come to find out after some questioning from the police, the items returned...obviously the office knew something about the theft.

Now I have this on my credit and have not had the financial to handle it legally, but will in due time.

My advice, the apartments are great, but dont count on your homes safety or your things, with the staff at Oak Forest Apartments.
