The staff at Steeplechase are friendly and receptive. The Maintenance personnel are exceptional. This makes the stay pleasant.

I am going to be as fair as I can and I want this review to be accurate . I used reviews to find the apartment I am now renting and know it is a very useful tool.
The water system at Steeplechase is old and hot water was not available to me when washing clothes and there was quite a bit of sediments fom the water in the washer that ruined the pump in my washer. I would suggest renting their washer and storing yours. There would be sediment in the tub when bathing better to just shower. The kitchen sink faucet had to be run for atleast 5 minutes for hot water use.

The water is usually shut off in the Spring a day or so for repairs from pipe breaks in the winter. It is a very old water system. The water bills run $60 a month.

There is alot of dog poop on the grounds. One of the maintance people had the lovely chore of cleaning grounds in the morning but only could hit high traffic areas. You must be careful when walking since the only place to clean your shoes is in your apartment.

Dogs are often off leash which proved a problem for me.

The Duck pond is wonderful but you must be careful of ant piles and again dog poop. It is a catch and release pond and I have seen people fishing.

The apartments on the trail side are in better shape than the other side of the complex.

Section8 tenants are allowed and most are fine but a few are very strange.

You will notice rat traps along most apartments and this was a problem for sure. But you have lovely trees and a great walking trail.

Some children run the grounds and cause vandalism. Most are very sweet and under good parental supervision.

There was one mugging in the parking lot when I was there. The Security drives the grounds but they are fairly useless. I think this is because they are monitoring several apartment complexes. The place I am now living has Security living on site.

There is a mandority Valet Trash service and was not useful for me because of hours of pickup. I had to pay for it anyhow. You can be fined if you put your trash out to early. I just took it to the dumpster and paid the $15.00 a month Valet Trash fee.

There is a Pet fee of $300 per pet and this is not refundable. Consider it a donation or surcharge. Also, there is a monthly pet rent fee. They explain the pet fee is for the scoop bags... funny..

When you leave you are required to have the carpet professionally cleaned or charged by the complex to have them cleaned. This comes to about $200.00. This is not absorbed by the pet fee. So just plan on paying $200 to have the carpets cleaned. I had a deal on line and used it to have the carpets cleaned and it was evidently too cheap. They charged $200 to reclean the carpets. The pet fee charged had no impact on this at all. They also have an extensive list of apartment cleaning fees and prices if not completed. They are famous for not returning the deposits and applying it towards move out fees. Just a cost of moving I guess but be sure to budget for this.

I hope this helps and good luck in your apartmernt search.
