Apartment Review for Shalamar Apartments

Shalamar refused to repair or compensate me for the numerous damages to my apartment and personal belongings. The apartment is in terrible condition. I moved into an apartment at Shalamar in August of 2009. The wood on the outside of the apartment was rotted and falling off. There was no screen door on the glass sliding door and no bar lock. My glass sliding door faced the Motel 6 with no real security. The dishwasher was old and out of order. A few months later there was a flood that went from the closet in the bedroom to the front door. A bunch of my stuff was ruined. The apartment was aware of the leak but did not notify me, so the water sat in my apartment and in my carpet for over 24 hours until I returned home to find my more stuff ruined. After they vacuumed up the water the carpet was not replaced and the carpet and padding under my bed was left to mildew. Months later a leak formed above my glass sliding door. It took over two months for the apartment managers to finally repair the leak, meanwhile more of my possessions were ruined as the leak spilled into my living room. The wood in the walls was left to rot even after the leak had been repaired. As I was packing to end my year at Shalamar another flood came in through my closet. Although there is a 24-hour vacuum service Shalamar management made me wait over 48 hours to get my carpet cleaned. The smell from the water and mildew in my carpet was too much to bear. Throughout my time at Shalamar I had very bad problems with bugs. There were rats in the rotting walls in my closet and there was a big problem with stray cats. The pools were continuously green and I was unable to swim. The grass was usually filled with animal feces or flooded water. I am more than unsatisfied with my year long lease at Shalamar Apartments. Its way too expensive and the manager is rude and never answers the phone in the office.
