This apartment is a great place to live...if you don't mind being grossed out and disappointed. We've have lived in this apartment for about 7 months. When we first decided to move in, they had a some fast, slick talking girl going over the contract so fast, and skipping over parts of it, that you couldn't understand what she was talking about. We gave them our $200 NON REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT, trusting that it would be clean (and to have no issues when we move out). When we got there, it was obviously not cleaned or even touched...so there went our money and the tenants money before us. The place grossed me out, so I was willing to clean it myself to get it to my satisfaction. The smell wasn't too bad at first, especially for smoking and pets being allowed. But after a couple days, it started to stink. It smelled so bad, that we had to keep our clothes in the car and change at my in-laws house so we didn't smell when arriving at work. The smell gets into the taste of our food, so we can't even have food in our cupboards. Our windows are always open to air it out, candles are constantly burning, and we bought an air purifier. Nothing is helping. The people below and on the sides are always cooking disgusting smelling food, and smoking non-stop. If it's not the smell, seeping through the carpet and walls, then it's the neighbor's dog barking all Saturday and Sunday when you're trying to relax at home. On top of that, we even had someone's cat follow us and climb into one of our open windows. It would have been okay...if there were screens on the windows! But of course those are broken, bent and missing. Since there are animals allowed, I strongly advise DO NOT WALK ON THE GRASS! The short cut isn't worth tracking crap through your apartment and in you car. Sometimes you can't help but walk on the grass, because there are no designated parking spots, so you have to park a mile away. No one goes to work, it seems, so nobody's car moves. If you find a premo parking spot right where you live, then STAY HOME because you'll never get it back. The spaces are taken by broken cars, a few trailers, unlicensed vehicles, and numerous guests of ONE resident having the obligatory weekend party. If you're looking for an important piece of mail, be sure to look on the ground. There are many envelopes just tucked into the top of the mail boxes just waiting to be rained on or blown away. Sometimes your mail is just mingling with 6 other past resident's mail in your private box. The noise isn't too bad. Besides the barking, we had neighbors who would have loud...well...intimate encounters. They moved, so we don't have to deal with that anymore. For the safety part, the fire alarm doesn't work, and has obviously not worked for a long time. Every single electrical outlet is worn out and does not hold a plug tightly which to me is a safety hazard and a fire waiting to happen. Don't touch the handrails. Keep your arms and clothes away from the edges. There are NASTY, LARGE, pieces of sharp sheet metal bent upward. We cut ourselves and snagged our clothes one too many times. Speaking of fire, we can't seem to spot many fire hydrants...but that's up to the city to deal with. There seem to be a lot of cops making visits to various units. We don't know what the deal is. There have been a few people taken into custody, but the other times it seemed to be a wellfare checks. I don't think drugs are a big problem there, but it actually might be, because now there was suddenly giant signs stating illegal activities are prohibited. Overall, I wouldn't move here. It was nice because we are newly weds and looking for an affordable place to live for a while, but since they go on a month to month basis, we're going to take advantage of that and get the hell out. I forgot to mention, we're paying $409 a month (for one bedroom) but for everyone else that wants to move in now, it's up to $439-449...not worth it.

P.S. We just got a note on our door saying "we feel it's necessary to raise your rent up to $429 to get the best of our living experience here." BULL!!!!! This starts in December.
