I've Been More Than Patient

I have lived at Northgate for several years now, and it's finally time to bid it adieu. While I have lived in worse places, Northgate is not worth the high price of move-in rent, nor the yearly rent increases.

The apartments are small and noisy-- I am fully FULLY aware each time the upstairs neighbors are... ahem, intimate. That coupled with the train and summertime outdoor concerts in the outside plaza below, makes for quite a few sleepless nights.

My vehicle has gotten broken into TWICE in the nearly four years I've lived here, and finding security is difficult. A couple of years ago when there was an alleged stabber on the loose, I asked security to walk me to my vehicle (which was parked on the street because someone had parked in my assigned spot) for work early the next day and I was told, "If we're not too busy." I leave for work at 4 in the morning, I don't know what they could've been so busy with at that time of day.

If you're not government subsidized, know that the amount of rent you pay makes up for the Northgate's "economic diversity" in the complex. Your yearly rent increases make up for Hurricane Katrina aid, your high rent pays for their reductions.

I will be moving soon, and not looking back. There are better places, for less money, and they even have washers, dryers and walk-in closets. Good luck with Northgate, you can have it.
