Slc's Marriott Of Apartment Buildings

Pros:

Kind of like living in a posh hotel. Rooms are sleek, spacious and intelligently designed. Buildings are new and quiet (usually can't hear neighbors through walls). Rooms come with a fridge, oven, dishwasher, washer & dryer(!), overhead lights, large walk-in closet, and bathroom with tub. Everything is newish.

Lots of young people (both sexes, single and couples) live here. All the young women inexplicably have highlights in their hair.

Located on the western edge of downtown SLC, across from a weekend dance club. Just around the corner from the Gateway outdoor shopping complex, comprised of various clothes shops, a movie megaplex, Barnes & Noble, various restaurants, Virgin, and others. TRAX (light rail) station is two blocks' walk away (ride free to Main Street vicinity, pay a dollar something to ride TRAX or a bus to the main public library or to the University of Utah). 2-minute stroll to the Delta center for concerts/sports events. 15-minute walk to Main Street. 20-minute drive to U of U.

Gated access (by key card) to the elevator lobby area and an underground parking structure. My apartment happens to be on ground level and therefore has an extra door right on the sidewalk, which in some places might be a security concern, but I feel safe with a police person strolling by every few minutes 24/7.

Access to fitness room and TV lounge.

Office staff are friendly, helpful, always professional.

Cons:

Trains rumble by a block away (honking long and loud) every few hours. Their occasional horn blasts penetrate west-facing windows as if passing through tissue paper. Mayoral efforts are currently underway to confine the tootings to godly hours. Otherwise, the building is quiet.

Silly restrictions on how you can decorate the outside of your apartment (patio, hall door, etc).

The hotel feel (multi-story building with long white hallways and weak sense of community) may not be for everyone.

In summary:

Nicest place I've ever lived or am likely to live in SLC, in terms of central location, friendly staff, and quietude.
