Don't Rent Here Unless You Want To Be Ripped Off!

We only stayed in this apartment for 6 months and it was 6 months too long. The apartment was supposedly upgraded when we moved in. We didn't get new appliances like we were promised when we were first shown the apartment. We were promised a stackable washer/dryer, new fridge, stove, and dishwasher. (We have several witnesses who could testify they told us that). After we moved in, we were told, even though we are paying the upgraded apartment rent, our old appliances work fine and they are not upgrading them. The stackable washer/dryer didn't come with our apartment and wasn't plumbed for it. Even with the fresh (one) coat of paint we saw places that clearly needed touch ups. We made a list of things that needed to be fixed when we moved in and not even half were fixed the 6 months we were there. I would sometimes go over or call the managers office regarding something that needed to be fixed once or twice a day. I would be told by the manager that they must have lost the work order. It took them over a month to replace our broken toliet seat. We never got shelves for our medicine cabinet. There were electrical wires sticking out of some of the electrical sockets, scarey. It took them over a month to look at our air conditioner during the summer when it wasn't working. The bathtub would take forever to drain. We were told when we first moved in, our rent wouldn't increase because we were going to be paying the upgraded apartment rent (again witnesses), when our 6 month lease was up, we were told that our rent was going to be increased by $50, we also paid $25/extra each month for water/garbage. We decided we were tired of being lied to. When confronted they acted like they just didn't care. Finally, after we moved out and gave notice, cleaned our apartment, patched a few nail holes in the walls, gave our forwarding address; we waited for 30 days for our deposit of $200 back. After 30 days I called them and the manager couldn't seem to find my file, then she asked if I provided them with a forwarding address. She then said she had to talk with the owners (one of which is her father), after 5 days of calling, she finally called me back to tell me we wouldn't get our security deposit back because of the nail holes in the walls. We shouldn't really be suprised, they lied to us ever since we got there. I do want to let everyone know not to rent from them unless you enjoy being lied to, not having your apartment issues dealt with in a timely manner or even dealt with, and generally have the managers and owners not even care. We are not the only ones that have had problems with this landlord, other people have been moving out in a steady stream from this apartment complex. They are tired of being lied to as well and the poor management.
