DON'T LIVE HERE!!!

basically, about 6 weeks before my lease was up my shower broke. it had broken before (multiple times) because it was just sort of a metal rod in a claw foot bathtub that propped up the shower head. i had my landlord come and fix it once before, but the other times i'd had a guy friend of mine fix it. when it broke the last time i called my landlord, heard nothing from them for three days, and then called again. when i finally got a call back from them it was from the apartment manager's husband and he basically said "what are you doing to that shower? are you using the rod to pull yourself up?" and was very rude about it, when any normal person could see that the thin rod was not screwed into the shower head properly so it would just pop out... it was an old, not so great shower. in addition, i had lived in another apartment in the same building and nothing had every broken for the entire year i lived there.

so anyway, i waited and waited for my shower to get fixed... there was some mix-ups with my roommate as to when she could meet the plumber, but basically it wasn't fixed for an ENTIRE month and every time we called to talk to them about it they were rude and unhelpful. now A MONTH is a long time to go without a shower, so it was pretty bad.

they eventually fixed it - but i know it was just because we were in our last month and they were showing the place & it didn't look to good to not have a working shower. so we continued on, when about halfway into the month i get a call from the apt. manager that basically says "hey lindsey, we haven't gotten your rent check this month. so you own us the rent, plus the 60 dollar late fee, plus 5 dollars per day that it is late." the only problem is, we had split up our last month's rent over the last 6 months so that we weren't supposed to pay any rent on the last month. so i called her back and told her that it was our last month, she double checked and said we were fine. an hour later i get another call that says "i calculated bobbi's (my roommates) last months rent wrong and she still owes us $145" or whatever the amount was. so i told her that i would talk to bobbi, and then she added "oh yeah. and the sixty dollar late fee and 5 dollars for every day that it is late. so i said to her "rachel, bobbi shouldn't have to pay you a late fee. we were under the impression that she didn't owe any rent this month or you would have had it on time, just like you have had every other month's rent." she basically told me that since it was our responsibility to make sure the lease is paid up that none of that mattered and that bobbi still owed the late fee.

sorry for the novel, i was just very dissapointed in that experience. i had lived there for 16 months and had always paid my rent on time and just felt like the apartment managers ruined the entire place for me. the inside of the rooms are beautiful, but not well maintained... in fact, when i moved into both apartment initially neither were well cleaned.

DO NOT LIVE HERE. YOU WILL REGRET IT.
