Lived Here For Over A Year

I've been here just over a year and am stuck here until August because I can't justify moving to another place just for the summer. I knew I should have moved into my college place early...

Most of these problems they aren't going to fix. By law they only need to bring a building up to code if over 75% or so of building is being renovated. They get around this by only doing minimal refurbishing work when tenents move (paint and new carpet).

I've had problems with insulation. The A/C is always on with the thermometer set at 78 degrees and the heat was always on in the winter being set at 65 degrees. The management has been promising new storm windows for over a year and has delivered to very few buildings. I've made suggestions to install ceiling fans to reduce heating/cooling costs, but have heard no feedback. The windows are so bad that I have to clean up dead bugs on the sills every two weeks.

They have no insulation between apartments and there are no firewalls in any of the buildings. There was a fire here last year in a building and they lost all 12 units in it because of that fact. I pointed that out and the refurbishing stopped because I noticed they weren't fixing the problem.

There are problems with the power grid that hey fail to acknowledge. Power outages happen every 2 or 3 months because of rain or water causing shorts. Power costs are higher here than at other places I've lived and I supposedly use move energy here with the same usage patterns as I had at other places.

There are very few lights in the community and I do not venture around at night. I've noticed multiple Latin King tags around on buildings.

I can hear everything going on around me because of the lack of proper insulation that dampens sound. I can literally hear everything that goes on in my side of the building.

For the price I paid here I could have gotten a much better place in Old Town or even a place even further inside the beltway.
