We just renewed our lease primarily to avoid the upfront added costs and hassles to move. You know that feeling of buyers remorse? Well..we have it now. There's been a recent rise in new tenants not cleaning up after their dogs (new tenants because for the past 2 yrs we've been here it was never this bad). Its right there literally IN YOUR FACE, pile after pile. This VOMIT INDUCING, UNSANITARY disgusting bad habit is a health threat to all dogs and people here. REALLY...there's so much crap on the grounds that we are running out of available grass to take our dogs. Its extreme and out of control!!! AND its so obvious, right on the sidewalk. A few weeks ago, a passive approach made by the leasing office in which they posted a few flyers (nicest warning letter 8in font I've ever seen) near the bldg elevators and inconspicuously near the mailbox area. There's a lack of concern here by the leasing office (as so many people have testified in other reviews). Tenants (including myself) have pleaded that they issue serious warning letters to ALL tenants...but that small request (emphasis on small) got nowhere... It's so bad here that one tenant had created a flyer to post outside near the waste disposal stations (oh yeah did i forget to mention you'll step in crap while on the way to throw out your own dog's mess at these waste disposal stations which have an abudant supply of bags (but recently were left empty for 2 weeks -- good job in promoting NOT cleaning up after your pets)...how crazy is that. I saw a neigbor yesterday taking photos of the crap..probably to report to the health dept...Its impossible to report anyone unless they evenutally become so arrogant enough to NOT pick up after their dogs right in front of anyone..Oh yeah...there's the occasional paint ball markings on the fence and lot of paintballs for dogs to put in their mouths...There's also a quick turnaround in renting out apts. (supply and demand). Anyways...if you don't own a dog and paying the higher costs for location is your main desire in choosing to move here then I'd say it not much of a deterrent for you...but for those w/dogs who are considering moving here....better set aside add'l money to routinely clean your carpets (auto mats included), clean/replace your shoes, and vet expenses for parasites and/or other diseases, pay $100+ in incremental rent costs every yr (oh and a stomach of steel). It's not worth it in ...our lease will not expire soon enough for us. Another interesting fact...I actually witnessed (by going inside another tenants apt) if you end up w/heavy smokers next door to you..the second hand smoke will enter your apt thru the bathroom pipes and linen closet and if you can't tolerate it and your dog develops allergies (more vet bills) because of the smoke...then the leasing office will not appear too concerned but will allow YOU to move to another one of their apts for a $500 fee of course (which they allow already for many reasons) in addition to the costs you'll have to fork up for movers if you have heavy furniture....NICE. Bottom line..it doesn't matter how much cash you have to afford living in these luxury apts..because it still doesn't guarantee you'll be happy where you live or who's living next to you.
