After receiving a notice encouraging tenants to store their bikes in the storage area in the parking garage, I purchased a lock and took my mountain bike down.
A week later, the bike was stolen. Understanding that crime happens, I only asked for assistance. I was told they would review the security video to see if perhaps they could ID who or how the bike was stolen.
A month later, I hadn't heard back, so I called management to inquire about the status. I was told they don't think the video was reviewed, but if I wanted it done it would cost me $75/two hours reviewed.
I requested they call their regional manager get confirmation. They called back and said they then changed their stance and would release the tapes upon receiving a subpoena from the police.
They stressed that they don't offer security. Apparently the surveillance cameras are for employee entertainment only. Nice.
Also contributing to the theft, I believe, was the fact that the parking garage door was broken for over a month. Can't blame the theft on this though, as I chose to place the bike in their locked bike storage (with key control at the front desk), and locked it to the bike rack with a lock.
Really great looking apartment, but keep in mind you are treated strictly as a business customer; there is no empathy, or understanding.
Bottom line: I don't plan on renewing the lease.
