I lived in S. Court back in 2002 for two years. Lots of shady business practices that continued for years afterwards. First was the bait and swap - showed us one apartment that was "ours" when we came to look, then on lease-signing day gave us a bad basement unit. Unit was falling apart, had issues with leaking furnace, could hear the neighbors when they were only TALKING on the other side of the wall etc. We moved out, found a larger place closer to the Metro, safer, with much better ammenities for only $200 more per month, got our

deposit back, paid some lingering fees.
Two years later, a collection agency called us saying we owed additional money. We got a bill that no one at Sheffield Court or their larger management company could explain and it didn't add up. Long story short, it ended up being either pay the $200, get it on our credit report, or go to court so we paid up. I would say if you do choose to live here (or anywhere really) to be smart and keep your paperwork and all checks. Also know the Arlington County Housing law - if they give you your deposit back, they can't come after you again for additional money. There is also a 45-day limit for when they can notify you about other fees (they stated they sent us a letter, but we never got it and they couldn't prove it because their files were in "deep storage" by this point). The whole thing was shady and I really would not live here if I were you.
