...to get the hell away from here. Arlington Overlook (as it was previously called) seemed nice enough when I moved in, but after 15 months I cannot wait for my lease to be up in August and thank the heavens above I did not renew for a full year. While the property manager Keir is wonderful and her staff is very friendly and incredibly responsive, there is just too much wrong with these old buildings to make them inhabitable by decent people. Perhaps once Fairfield Properties finishes its multi-million dollar renovations it may be worth a look, but until then do yourself a favor and stay away. First off, the A/C is centrally controlled, so despite the 85 degree days we have been having, there is no relief to be found until management decides to change the system over from heat to A/C. Next, occasional inconveniences such as losing hot water and the loss of all gas due to a botched construction job last year seem to be happening with increased frequency. Thirdly, despite keeping my apartment clean I have started to see cockroaches in and around my apartment. I have called 3 times on the issue and each time the exterminator comes out and uses baits, which seem to resolve the issue for a few weeks. The appearance of the roaches was extremely disheartening, as this place used to have no bug problems whatsoever. This newfound problem may be somewhat attributable to the lower grade of tenants that have been moving into the complex of late. While many young professionals have moved on to greener pastures, they are being replaced by a much more questionable clientele. An additional aggravation will come with the replacing of the roofs in each building this summer. While the apartments themselves are nice, quite large, and very quiet, and I have utmost faith in the manager and her staff, I would definitely not recommend this place until after all of the upgrades have been completed.
